Harford Community College and Sappari Solutions Professional Organizing will provide a one-stop location for people to clear the clutter in their homes in an environmentally responsible way. The third annual Clear Your Clutter Day is planned Saturday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the college. The event will be held rain or shine. To address the logistical challenges associated with the overwhelming turnout this event has had in the past, a new traffic pattern has been established.

Alcohol consumption has a long and storied association with college life, much of it not good. The degree to which that association is promoted at Harford Community College is a matter of substantial public concern. Though the discussions are very preliminary, there's talk of asking the local delegation to the Maryland General Assembly to establish a special class of liquor license that would be appropriate for the new APGFCU Arena on campus at HCC. The arena is the largest public venue in Harford County, with seating for in excess of 3,000 people, depending on the type of event.

Owl Magazine , the student magazine of Harford Community College in Bel Air, recently won national honors in the Apple Awards Competition sponsored by the National College Media Association. The Winter 2012 issue placed second in the category of Best Magazine Cover. The front page was designed by Brianna Breece, a graphic design major, and featured photography by English major John Morin. The front-page models were HCC students Laurise McMillian and Marcell Betts. "A Crash Course in Counter Culture" from Owl Magazine's Summer 2012 issue also placed second in the category of Two-Page Spread, a category judging design, photography and writing quality.

Musician Andy Grammer will perform in concert at the APG Federal Credit Union Arena at Harford Community College on April 4 at 7 p.m. Known for his vibrant pop, rock, soul mix and free-flowing vocal delivery, Grammer is on his first headlining tour, selling out many venues. His debut album generated two Top 10 hits, "Fine By Me" and "Keep Your Head Up. " Named one of Billboard's 2011 Artists to Watch, he's on the fast track to another big year, according to a press release from Harford Community College.

The engagement of Erin Fitzgerald and Stephen Dombroskie has been announced. Fitzgerald is the daughter of Kevin and Michelle Fitzgerald of Edgewood. She is a 2002 graduate of Edgewood High School and a 2011 graduate of Harford Community College, where she earned her associate's degree in biology. Dombroskie is the son of Jeff and Karen Dombroskie of Bel Air. He is a 2004 graduate of Bel Air High School and a 2008 graduate of Delaware Valley College, where he earned a bachelor of science, zoo science degree.

The town, or more precisely, Harford County, is going to the dogs and cats. At least that's the hope of those at the Humane Society of Harford County who have partnered with the Art Rooms Professional Art Supplies to host a fun competition as a fundraiser. The Art Rooms Professional Art Supplies is inviting artists of all ages and abilities to join them for an art show and benefit to raise funds for the homeless and neglected animals at the Humane Society of Harford County. The Arts Rooms is not looking for Harford County's next Picasso, but they are looking for artists to shine the spotlight on our furry friends and raise funds for their care while having fun and letting the creative juices flow.

Harford Community College is pleased to announce those students named to the dean's list for the fall 2012 semester. Students on the list have achieved high academic honor. In qualifying for the dean's list, a student must receive all As and Bs grades and have a 3.50 to 3.75 GPA (grade point average). Full-time students must have completed 12 credit hours during the semester. Part-time students are eligible after having completed 12 credit hours and then completing six credit hours during the current semester.

Cheryl and Lambert Rickey of Aberdeen announce the engagement of their daughter ,Allison Marie, to Nicholas Rowan Delcher, son of William Delcher Sr. of Bel Air and Elizabeth and Steve Oster of Parkville. The bride-to-be is a 2001 graduate of Aberdeen High School. She graduated from Harford Community College in 2010 with an associate's degree in psychology. Delcher is a 2000 graduate of Parkville High School. He graduated from Harford Community College in 2004, earning an electrical degree.

The 2013 MD JUCO Basketball Tournaments are being held in the brand new APGFCU Arena this week. For the first time in school history, the Harford Community College women's team (23-2) won the MD JUCO regular season championship and earned the top seed in the tournament, clinching an opening round bye. The Owls will take on the winner of Southern Maryland versus Garrett contest game that was played Tuesday night. Harford's game will be played Thursday at 7 p.m. Things are crystal clear on the men's side.
