Don't look for 12-year-old Johnoliver Gosier and younger brother Leo in front of the television set at their home in rural Harford County this summer.Johnoliver will probably be curled up in his favorite bedroom chair or seated outside under the trees with a stack of books beside him.Leo, 10, will be settled on the screened porch with a book in hand."Books take me to places I've never been to and probably could never see, like the North Pole, South Pole, Japan and England," said Leo, who will be a fifth-grader at Norrisville Elementary School this fall.

“The brew can't deliver the one thing that Hanna wants … her mom.” Poor Hanna. After being framed by “A” for the murder of Detective Wilden, Ashley is looking at years in prison and Hanna and the girls are trying to get her out. Finally putting all of the events from the college visit aside, Spencer, Emily and Aria support Hanna the best way they can - by trying to take A down. Not before the Hardy Boys! We have been introduced to the bromance between Caleb and Toby, and it is probably our next favorite pair to date.

The most significant moment during Friday night's episode of Smackdown occurred on the entrance ramp just after Jeff Hardy's countout victory over The Big Show. As Jeff was taking his bows, Matt Hardy suddenly appeared on the ramp to celebrate with his brother. Matt got so excited that he grabbed Jeff's arm and raised it in a symbol of victory. Jeff, however, was selling an injury to the arm, and he immediately jerked it away, grimacing. I believe it's another hint that the Hardy boys are going to end up feuding.

It appears the person who attacked Jeff Hardy before the Survivor Series is at it again. The burning question is: Who was driving the car that hit Hardy's vehicle? And did the same person jump Hardy from behind two months ago? ( For more, go to baltimoresun.com/ringposts)

Roswell Encina loves "being surrounded by knowledge," which is why he jumped on the opportunity to become the director of communications at the Enoch Pratt Free Library last year. The former TV reporter, who currently lives in Fells Point, worked as a journalist, traveling from Maryland to Alabama to Tennessee and finally back to Maryland before leaving the newsroom. "The Tower Treasure" by Franklin W. Dixon At age 7, after graduating from children's books, I searched for books I could relate to. After reading "The Tower Treasure," the first book in the Hardy Boys Mysteries, I was hooked and had to read the rest of this 50-plus series.

When I was about 9 years old, I met my first feminist. Her name was Nancy Drew and she lived in two places: in the mythical town of River Heights and inside me.Although I didn't know anyone quite like this independent, spirited, intelligent teen-ager who chased down mysteries in her snappy blue roadster, Nancy Drew was as real to me as a close friend. So great was my involvement with this young sleuth that even now I can still summon up instantly the names and plots of my favorite Nancy Drew books: "The Secret of the Old Clock."

IN THE BEGINNING was the Word . . . and also the dogwood tree, gnarled with the years, that rose in a tangle of branches and blossoms to loom high above our backyard.I was 10. A fifth-grader in Tallahassee. The year was 1953, and I had just discovered the magic of books. Home each afternoon from school, I raced through my chores and then carried "While The Clock Ticked" out to the flowering dogwood. In a flash, I climbed to my perch on one of the upper branches.Safe at last, I leaned back against the scarred trunk, stretched comfortably . . . and flipped to the beginning of Chapter 5. The Hardy Boys were in serious trouble!

"The High Flyer," by Susan Howatch. Knopf. 512 pages. $26. Susan Howatch has high hopes. She would like to save your soul, for one. She would like you to run to church, drop to your knees and beg for forgiveness. But that makes for a very short book. So she couches her message -- forgive me, Message -- in a 512-page morality tale. This isn't a novel. It's the longest sermon on record. Our heroine is Carter Graham, a hard-charging, highly successful London lawyer whose life is so structured she speculates whether her dates will be fertile enough to impregnate her when the Daily Career Planner says it's time to start a family.
