LAUREL - Good luck reducing Aquille Carr's story to a tweet or a television sound bite. Has the Baltimore prep basketball sensation grown into a man? Well, the calendar says so, as do his daughter, about to celebrate her first birthday, and his talk of the sport as a job. He hinted strongly in a recent interview that he's ready to bypass college in favor of seeking an overseas professional offer for next year. “Seton Hall is still my choice right now,” he said of the school to which he committed orally last year.

- Hereford coach Brad Duvall said early in Tuesday night's state indoor track and field championship that he truly spread out his lineup in an attempt to gain points. That strategy paid off as Sarah Ashwood and several others helped the No. 3 Hereford girls team win its second consecutive Class 3A state title at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex. The Bulls finished with 66.67 points, beating out Thomas Stone (52), even though the Bulls won just one of the 13 events.

The seventh-ranked Digital Harbor girls basketball team was in control for most of Tuesday's showdown against No. 4 Poly before the Engineers made a run late in the third quarter. A layup by Nkeiruka Okororie in the closing seconds of the quarter gave visiting Poly its first lead and the momentum appeared to have shifted. But Digital Harbor did not panic and took control again with a 9-0 run to open the fourth quarter and eventually pulled away with a 44-35 victory over the defending city champions.
