In just one month, Ouzo Bay has made a swaggering debut in Harbor East. Every decision concerning the atmosphere, menu and service feels exactly right. The food is prepared with extraordinary care and presented with casual grace. Dinner there is fun. You're meant to enjoy the food and yourself equally. We did, without exception. The fish and seafood program is spectacular. There are luxury items like Dover sole, wild-caught and flown in fresh from the Netherlands, and langoustines, a spindly lobster from the Norwegian Sea that you will fall in love with at first bite.

Labor Day has come and gone, but there's no need to pack away all that white. Not only can you still wear it, you can use the color to give your decor a lift. Fashion designers from Derek Lam to J. Mendel stocked their fall 2012 collections with crisp winter whites. And interior designers agree: All year round, white is hot. Patrick Sutton, a Baltimore interior designer and owner of Patrick Sutton Home in Harbor East, has long extolled the virtues of decorating with white. "It's been one of my favorite colors for my whole career," he says.

Once in a while, a new bar comes up with a gimmick intriguing enough to merit a trip. Townhouse Kitchen and Bar, which opened next to Ra in Harbor East in late May, is one of those places, thanks to its touch-screen "table tap technology," which dispenses beer and vodka at four of its dining tables. Given Townhouse's prime corner location, huge size and sleek presentation, this ultra-modern amenity just adds to its allure. While it's not the only bar to offer such an experience (Leinenkugel's Beer Garden at Power Plant Live has patrons playing bartender at a couple of its tables, too)

One of the city's best-looking and most comfortable warehouse restaurants, Vino Rosina is still a tempting destination for the date-nighters who pour into Harbor East on weekends, a neighborhood that Baltimore diners have come to associate with high-energy, glitzy dining. The square-shaped bar remains a great place to start or end a Harbor East evening, even if you're not dining at Vino Rosina. Vino Rosina opened with "Top Chef" alumna Jesse Sandlin as executive chef in May 2010.

Tonight is Fashion's Night Out, and not only in New York City. Baltimore area shopping destinations are getting in on the fashion world's "shopping extravaganza," a single night that started in New York in 2009 to highlight fashion, restore consumer confidence and give retailers a boost during the recession. Last year, 18 countries participated and 4,500 events were held in the U.S. alone, designer appearances, celebrity guests, fashion shows and musical performances, according to Weinberg Harris & Associates, which represents Towson Town Center.

Regarding Steven Riveli's praise for the Rotunda mall owner's design decisions and list of experts who favor this type of development, the key to the most favorable plan lies in the character of the community it will serve ("Rotunda owners right to turn the mall inside out," Aug. 21). The community surrounding the Rotunda is not Harbor East or Towson. It is in an area that serves three senior citizen complexes and several well-established neighborhoods. This community welcomes the upgrade of the Rotunda and new neighbors.

Former Brewer's Art head brewer Chris Cashell has joined the Gordon Biersch Baltimore team. Cashell figures in the legend of Resurrection Ale, the wildly populuar flagship brand of Brewer's Art. It was Cashell who gave the Abbey-style dubbel its name, after he successfully "resurrected" the yeast that had died during the fermentation of the first batch. In 2009, Cashell left Brewer's Art to open his own restaurant, Parkside Fine Food & Sprits. The Harford Road restaurant closed after just over a year of operation.
