KEYW Holding Corp. is making good on an ambitious plan to grow, organically and through acquisitions, into a company that can respond quickly to the needs of its federal defense clients. The Hanover-based company said today it completed the acquisition of Poole & Associates Inc., of Annapolis Junction, for $126 million in cash and stock. The acquisition was announced Sept. 10. It has bought several companies since its founding in 2008, and going public in 2010. The company also is returning to the public market to raise more capital.

Baltimore Washington Medical Center has signed a deal to open a clinic with an ambulatory surgery center in Hanover to serve the growing market in western Anne Arundel County, hospital officials announced yesterday. The center, which will also include a radiology suite, physical therapy center and primary care and specialty physician offices, will be in a150,000-square-foot building at Route 100 near Arundel Mills mall. The project is expected to be completed by fall of 2008. The Glen Burnie hospital will initially lease about 63,000 square feet at a cost of about $2 million for the first year, and sublease space to physicians.

Oliver Invitational Wrestling Tournament at McDonogh School, there was nowhere to run.The two wrestling giants dominated, together winning nine of 13 individual championships and sending a plethora of top local competitors home empty-handed.The Nighthawks, ranked No. 4 in Pennsylvania, won the tournament with 229 points, followed by the Stags -- ranked third in Maryland -- with 173.But for first-year North Carroll coach Bryan Wetzel -- whose team finished third with 142 points, well ahead of any other local team -- the day wasn't just about winning and losing.

Three Marylanders lead categories of the Hanover (Pa.) Bowling Centre Tournament, which will run every weekend through Labor Day.Wilson Rowe of Greenbelt and Lee Brosius of Fort Meade lead in both the handicap and scratch doubles with 1,358 and 1,298, respectively. Gary Smith and Rhonda Storm, both from Hanover, are second in handicap with 1,357, and George Kostjal and Bob Spaulding, from Mechanicsburg, Pa., are second in scratch with 1,264.Ron Steele of Forestville leads in scratch singles with 884, and Sterling Brown of Philadelphia is the handicap singles leader with 937.The Majestic Bowling Club of New Jersey leads in both the handicap and scratch team event with 3,098 and 2,732.

FORT WASHINGTON -- Western Hanover crossed another hurdle Saturday night in his quest for pacing's Triple Crown, winning the $366,750 Messenger Pace at Rosecroft Raceway.To become the first Triple Crown champion in the sport since Ralph Hanover in 1983, Western Hanover needs to win the Little Brown Jug at the Delaware (Ohio) Fairgrounds on Sept. 24.The 3-year-old No Nukes colt also joined 14 other pacers who have eclipsed $2 million in career earnings, taking home $183,375 for the victory.
