Alex Ovechkin scored his 22nd and 23rd goals early in the third period and Tomas Fleischmann added the go-ahead goal in the Washington Capitals' 4-2 comeback victory over the host Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night. "I challenged him and started him right off the bat in the third and he came through," Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau said. "The reason he is the best player in the planet is that instead of going, 'Woe is me, why is the coach yelling at me?' he took up the challenge and said, 'I'll show you' and got three points and led us to the victory."

" I 'm very sentimental," Ann Hampton Callaway says, "a total mush-bomb when it comes to the holidays." That's one reason the singer/songwriter is an ideal choice as host for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's 2009 "Holiday Spectacular." Jack Everly, the BSO's principal pops conductor, lists a few more. "She's fabulous," he says, "one of the most delightful persons I've ever worked with. Hers is one of the unique voices we have today, an incredible voice. Add to that her abilities as an entertainer and a composer, and you have a rather rare combination."

I don't know the Hamptons from Highlandtown, so I am not really qualified to answer this but I know you are, dear reader. Where is the "Hamptons of Maryland"? About a week ago, CNN.com published a list of cool day trips across the country, and our very own St. Michaels was included. But the piece called the Eastern Shore town the "Hamptons of Maryland," which gave me pause. I have heard Easton called by that moniker. And of course, there is the Hampton National Historic Site in Baltimore County, but that probably doesn't qualify as a waterfront vacation destination.
