The blockbuster trade sending Roy Halladay to the Phillies and Cliff Lee to the Mariners could be completed Wednesday, and it has become a four-team swap that involves Toronto shipping a prospect to Oakland. The Blue Jays would send Halladay and $6 million to the Phillies for three minor-leaguers: catcher Travis d'Arnaud , right-hander Kyle Drabek and outfielder Michael Taylor . The Phillies would deal Lee to the Mariners for a trio of prospects: right-hander Phillippe Aumont , outfielder Tyson Gillies and right-hander Juan Ramirez . Toronto would then trade Taylor to the Athletics for third baseman Brett Wallace . Halladay would receive a $60 million, three-year contract extension through 2013 with the Phillies, including a 2014 option.

If Toronto wants to climb out of the American League East cellar, this is a golden opportunity to do it, with the fourth-place Orioles in town for three games. The Blue Jays just went 2-4 on a road trip through Seattle and Anaheim. They've lost four of their past five. Returning to Rogers Centre is a comfort, as they've lost 13 of their past 17 away from home. They batted .233 on the road trip, including .208 with runners in scoring position. Roy Halladay is their lone All-Star representative.

THAT WAS FAST Orioles right fielder Nick Markakis was just 7-for-30 lifetime heading into Friday's game against Toronto ace Roy Halladay, so it figured that his hitting streak could be in jeopardy. Markakis wasted no time disproving that theory. In the first inning, Markakis went down and drove Halladay's breaking ball into the right-field seats, his third homer of the year extending his hitting streak to a career-high-tying 17 games. NO RETRIBUTION The Orioles hit three batters, though the Blue Jays didn't retaliate.
