Tomorrow is the day when everybody in your house is going to want toeat -- a lot.So today you have to go shopping.Watch out, the stores will be crowded with frantic, last-minute bargain hunters, who probably are hungry. To help you through the aisles, we've compiled prices for families on a meat-and-potatoes budget and for those with a palate for hors d'oeuvres, oyster stuffing and leg of lamb.Your grandmother might not approve of some of the recommendations, such as boxed stuffing, canned gravy or sauerkraut from a bag, but the shortcuts will give you more time to watch football, gossip with relatives or take a nap.You won't bust your budget buying a bird.

Pairs of students planted day lilies on a slope. A gaggle ofyouths raked mulch. A few other teen-agers removed trash and twigs. And it wasn't even Earth Day.The students were starting the fourth year of a project to create a 2-acre wildlife habitat behind South River High School near Edgewater in Anne Arundel County. Eventually, the area will have more than 400 feet of marked trail and will be open to school and community groups. This is the kind of work that gets students dirty and sweaty, maybe even gets them a case of poison ivy. Most important, it gets them out of the classroom.

The Anne Arundel Community College volleyball team is younger than it's been in recent years, but it has more height. And that combination resulted in two victories in Saturday's season-opening tri-match, and another one on Tuesday.Playing on their home floor, the Pioneers defeated Lehigh Community College, 15-8, 15-2, and Washington Bible College, 13-15, 15-1, 15-5, Saturday. They traveled to Prince George's Community College on Tuesday and won, 15-3, 15-3, 15-7.Coming off of a 23-11 season, Anne Arundel returns just two players -- Queen Anne's graduate Penni Woolford, a 5-foot-10 middle hitter, and Northeast's Wendy Scheleur (5-4)

David Lord doesn't view the sounds of silence with the fondness of Simon and Garfunkel, at least not before a regional soccer championship. The Broadneck girls soccer coach didn't hear the usual chatter from his young players on the Saturday afternoon bus ride to Severna Park High, and he took their subdued behavior as a bad omen."

McDonogh's fast soccer start (10-0) is only a mild surprise to coach Bill Seal. The Eagles boast several seniors who have been playing since their freshmen season. But even Seal did not expect his team to outscore the opposition by a 33-2 margin entering today's contest against Friends.Senior Nick Bershak and junior Dom Appolon are leading the attack with support from midfielder Zack Shamoo and stopper Josh Hantman.Senior Sean Corcoran is in goal, supported by sweeper Spencer Rice and wing backs Tim Schauerman and Jordan Stellar.
