POLICE LOG* Town Center: 10300 block of Little Patuxent Parkway: A burgundy 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass with Maryland tags YZG206 was stolen from the Columbia Mall parking lot Tuesday.* Wilde Lake: 10400 block of Twin Rivers Road: Someone broke into the Anthony Richard Barber Shop Thursday, but nothing was taken, police said.* Harper's Choice: 5400 block of Harper's Farm Road: Someone smashed the window of Revelations Hair Salon just after midnight Thursday and took a cash register. The register was found later outside Longfellow Elementary School.

Firefighters evacuated Carrolltowne Center in Sykesville last night after customers and employees in several stores complained of respiratory problems. The complaints came from people in the area around Kustom Kuts, a hair salon. Paramedics from Sykesville-Freedom District Fire Department took an unidentified person to Carroll County General Hospital for precautionary measures. The mall was closed for about 45 minutes until firefighters and hazardous material specialists ascertained no danger existed.

POLICE LOG* Owen Brown: 6600 block of Dobbin Road: An officer responding to an alarm at Mason's hair studio around 4 a.m. Thursday found a front-door lock pried off. A cash register was forced open and cash was taken, police said. Two other stores in the same area were also broken into during the same time period. Cash was stolen from the Lemon Tree hair salon, but nothing was taken from the TechLab 2000 photo store, police said.* Long Reach: 6000 block of Foreland Garth: A multicolored 1984 Toyota Celica with Maryland tags THAD was stolen Wednesday, police said.

State police are investigating after the robbery of a Carroll County woman outside a Westminster hair salon. Jessica Smith, 25, of Manchester had gotten into her car parked behind A Cut Above in the 400 block of E. Main St. when an attacker pulled her out the vehicle and assaulted her at 8:40 p.m. Friday, police said. The man took her purse and fled on foot toward Poole Road, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Westminster barracks at 410-386-3000 or Metro Crime Stoppers - which is offering a possible reward of up to $2,000 for information - at 866-7LOCKUP.

An Ellicott City barber has been charged by Howard County police with sexually abusing a 13-year-old male client. Jung Gon Kim, 54, is charged with sexual abuse of a minor, second- and third-degree sex offense, sodomy and second-degree assault. Kim, who lives in Boyds in Montgomery County, worked at Scissors Sound Hair Salon, 3419 Plum Tree Drive. He was arrested Oct. 31, and is being held at the county detention center on $500,000 bond, according to police. The victim reported the abuse last month, police said in a news release.

Baltimore: Northwest Robber kills man at salon A man was fatally shot yesterday during a robbery at a Northwest Baltimore hair salon, city police said. The man was shot in the mouth about 5:30 p.m. at Divine Unity Unisex Hair Salon in the 2200 block of Garrison Blvd., said Officer Nicole Monroe, a police spokeswoman. Police did not release the name of the victim last night. Monroe said police had blocked off the area surrounding Garrison Boulevard and Gwynns Falls Parkway last night to search for a suspect.

She had known Lyle Alzado since she was a teen-ager and classmate at Lawrence High School. They had lived together for 3 1/2 years before marrying in 1985.The relationship and 15-month marriage was carried out in the fast lane. It was filled with violence.

Using a photograph taken at an automated teller machine, Howard County police have identified a suspect in the carjacking of a 27-year-old Cockeysville woman Jan. 27 outside a Columbia hair salon.After taking over the woman's vehicle at gunpoint and driving her to a bank in Owen Brown, a man tried unsuccessfully to withdraw money from her account, police said. The woman escaped, suffering minor injuries.A bank camera at the ATM took a photo of the man, police said.Police have issued an arrest warrant for Larry Waymon Best, 35, of Prince George's County.
