Adored grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of one. Loving brother-in-law of four sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law and predeceased by all his brothers and sisters. Survived by nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Friends may call at the LOUDON PARK FUNERAL HOME, 3620 Wilkens Ave. Baltimore, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. where funeral services will be held on Friday at 9 A.M. Interment Garrison Forest Veteran Cemetery.

A Perry Hall man was sentenced Friday to 121/2 years in prison and ordered to pay more than $42 million in restitution after being convicted of selling $9 million worth of fake biodiesel fuel credits to oil companies and commodities brokers. Rodney R. Hailey, 34, was found guilty in June of eight counts of wire fraud, 32 counts of money laundering and two counts of violating the Clean Air Act. Hailey operated Clean Green Fuel, a company that purportedly created renewable fuel from waste cooking oil but sold credits for more than 23 million gallons of biodiesel he never made.

Richard Wayne Hailey, a mortgage bank employee and former Linthicum Heights resident, died Tuesday of a lung infection at his home in San Diego. He was 47. Mr. Hailey had worked for nearly 30 years in technical sup- port at Old Kent Mortgage Bank in San Diego until retiring on a medical disability last year. Mr. Hailey was born in San Antonio, Texas, the son of an Air Force officer, and moved to Linthicum Heights in 1968. After graduating from Andover High School in 1971, he attended Anne Arundel Community College.

Mildred J. Hailey, a homemaker and volunteer, died Monday of heart failure at Vasona Creek Rehabilitation Center in San Jose, Calif. The former Linthicum Heights resident was 87. The daughter of a businessman and a homemaker, the former Mildred Jones was born and raised in Cardiff, Wales, where she graduated from Howell's School for Girls. While working for the Red Cross during World War II, she met an American serviceman from Kentucky, William Thomas Hailey, who was with the 889th Signal Corps attached to the 8th Air Force.

Sophomore Colette Hailey and junior B.J. Banjo have spent the majority of their young lives playing basketball together in various AAU and recreation leagues. These days, however, it's No. 12 Mercy that's reaping the rewards of the talented backcourt tandem. Yesterday against No. 13 John Carroll, Hailey (21 points) and Banjo (16) accounted for nearly 80 percent of the Magic's offense, helping their team build an early 17-4 lead before holding on for a 47-41 win over the visiting Patriots in an Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference game.

U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Garland V. Hailey, a former Morgan State University student known as an "everyday kind of person, who could get along anywhere, with anyone," was killed Saturday in a helicopter crash in Saudi Arabia.The Blackhawk helicopter, assigned to the 236th Air Ambulance Co., 818th Medical Battalion, 332nd Medical Group, VII Corps, also was carrying two patients, a medic and three crew members when it had mechanical difficulties and crashed, according to family members who live in Baltimore.

Court officers foiled an accused murderer's attempt to escape from a district court lockup in Baltimore Friday evening, police said.Marco Danard Silver, 22, of Baltimore, who is accused of two counts of murder, tried to escape from the district court on Wabash Avenue by switching places with a man accused of a lesser crime, according to the state Division of Pretrial Detention Services.Mr. Silver was at the courthouse lockup with Brian Hailey, 19, also of Baltimore, after a bail review Friday.

A federal prosecutor said Thursday that the government has recovered only a third of the $9 million that authorities charge a Perry Hall businessman with taking from his customers in a massive biofuel fraud scheme. The businessman, Rodney R. Hailey, president of the now-shuttered Clean Green Fuel, appeared in U.S. District Court for what had been scheduled as an arraignment. But Hailey surprised prosecutors by not going through with a guilty plea that they said he had agreed to before the proceeding.

Hailey, a 20-year-old Atlantic bottlenose dolphin who entertained thousands of visitors to the National Aquarium in Baltimore, died late Saturday in the aquarium's hospital pool after a long battle with a painful liver disease.Born wild in the Gulf of Mexico, Hailey was captured in 1981. The aquarium acquired her and two other dolphins from a Florida company just before the 1990 opening of the Marine Mammal Pavilion.In 1995, Hailey was diagnosed with hemochromatosis, a disorder in which the liver is unable to properly capture and store iron, leaving damaging iron deposits in vital organs.

The case that has rattled the nation's renewable fuels industry began with some flashy cars. As Rodney R. Hailey accumulated a string of vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce, two Bentleys and a Lamborghini, the Perry Hall man's neighbors became suspicious. They contacted Baltimore County police, who passed the tip to federal agents. Within months, federal and local authorities raided the offices of Clean Green Fuel, the biodiesel business Hailey ran in Perry Hall, and searched his homes both nearby and in Anaheim, Calif., seizing cars and records and freezing his bank accounts.

Instead, Hailey Reissman came at her story from the side, with a twist of humor and a touch of the profane. "This opportunity is bittersweet," Warren said. "No one wants to get a chance from an injury or even more serious a death. My prayers are with Otis and his family. Maryland GreenHawks coach Otis Hailey died from kidney failure Saturday morning, the Premier Basketball League announced. "On behalf of the Premier Basketball League, its players and staff, we send our condolences to Otis Hailey's family," PBL chairman Severko Hrywnak said in statement. Hailey had been named GreenHawks coach Jan. 19, replacing Rob Spon . Hailey coached two games for the GreenHawks, winning against the Quebec Kebs and losing to the Rochester RazorSharks.
