The following is compiled from Howard County police reports.  Ellicott City Coventry Court Drive, 3300 block, between 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. April 29. Entry gained to residence by prying open basement door. Master bedroom ransacked. Jewelry stolen. St Johns Lane, 3300 block, 11:19 p.m. April 24. A juvenile male entered an abandoned residence by kicking in the door. While inside the house, the juvenile was confronted by three men wearing dark-colored hoodies and bandannas over their faces.

Baltimore City Northern District Shooting: A 37-year-old man was in serious condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center after he was shot in the face by one of two men during a robbery attempt in the 2200 block of Guilford Ave. about 12:20 a.m. yesterday. Northeastern District Robbery: A gunman robbed Mickey's Pizza in the 5500 block of Belair Road of an undisclosed sum of money about 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

A man selling produce at a Westminster roadside stand was robbed at gunpoint Saturday afternoon, according to Carroll County Sheriff's Deputies. The employee with Kern's Produce had been selling produce from the back of his pick-up truck and was seated in the cab taking a break between customers when a man with a gun walked up to the passenger side of the vehicle parked in the 400 block of E. Main Street, deputies said. The man pressed a dark colored handgun against the man's neck while demanding money at about 1:20 p.m., deputies said.

Just a few minutes into the year, a 28-year-old South Baltimore man was shot several times after refusing to obey orders from a gunman robbing partygoers at a Cherry Hill apartment, possibly becoming the city's first homicide victim in 2008, police said. The slaying marked the sixth consecutive year in which a homicide was tallied on Jan. 1 in Baltimore, according to computer records; it also ended a three-day period in which no killings occurred in the city. Baltimore has been grappling with a homicide rate that ranks among the highest in the United States.

Robbery -- Police were seeking four men, one with a knife, who forced their way into a woman's house in the 300 block of S. Fremont Ave. about 3 a.m. Saturday, assaulted her and robbed her of $40. Baltimore County White Marsh Robbery -- A woman, 48, was walking in the 9000 block of Lennings Lane about 4:30 p.m. Friday when she was assaulted by a man who stole her purse.
