The Port Deposit Heritage Corporation held its 36th annual General Meeting on April 19 in the upstairs board room of the Paw Paw Building. President Judy Leonard opened the meeting and Patsy Grace submitted her Treasurer's Report. Arch McKown, curator of the Cecil County Historical Society, served as guest speaker, giving very useful information to the board regarding museum policies, plans and protocols. The Heritage has scheduled a fundraising bingo for August to help offset its operating costs.

The Northern Chesapeake West Point Society held its Annual Founders Day Celebration March 16 at the Maryland Golf and Country Clubs in Bel Air. More than 85 people representing graduates, cadets and parents of cadets, former professors and friends of the academy attended. The date marked the 210th anniversary of the founding of the United States Military Academy at West Point in New York; on March 16, 1802, Congress approved legislation establishing the academy. West Point is one of the oldest military academies in the world and is the oldest continuously run military post in America.

Notre Dame men's basketball coach Mike Brey will be the guest speaker at the Baltimore Catholic Leagu's 2nd Hall of Fame banquet, the league announced Thursday. Local broadcaster Keith Mills will be the emcee for the event, which will be held May 3 at the Rolling Road Country Club in Catonsville. The 2012 induction class includes Tim Coles (Cardinal Gibbons, '82), Leon Dickerson (Cardinal Gibbons), Darryle Edwards (Calvert Hall, '81), Darnell Harris (St. Frances, '04) Phil Lane (Saint Maria Goretti, '96)
