City officials and community leaders yesterday announced details of a grand opening celebration for the Stanton Center - more than two years after it was closed for major renovations. The festivities are scheduled to begin June 24 with a breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the center, 92 W. Washington St. in Annapolis. The grand opening begins with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6 p.m. July 7. The grand opening runs through July 9. Tours of the center will be given during the grand opening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. There will be ceremonies honoring past teachers and students.

1979: Curtain rises at Toby's Toby Orenstein opened Toby's Dinner Theatre with a limited warm-up production of Godspell on Dec. 4. The grand opening was planned for New Year's Eve when Jean Ann Kain headlined Hello, Dolly. The dinner theater was the first in the area to use the arena style. Before opening Toby's, Orenstein directed plays at Slayton House and at area high schools.

Bertelsmann opening Thursday; 85 jobs expected The grand opening of Bertelsmann Services Inc., 1791 Crossroads Drive in Odenton, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Bertelsmann is a provider of e-commerce, printing, financial and multimedia services for the high-tech and health care industries. The company estimates it will provide 85 new jobs by the fall. DUNDALK - Baltimore County Executive James T. Smith Jr. and County Councilman John Olszewski Sr. will take part in the grand opening of a fitness center at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Ateaze Senior Center, 7401 Holabird Ave. The fitness center is one of two opening this year in the county's 19 senior centers - two are already open - and county officials have said they hope to add four more next year.

Holiday Open House Watch live glass blowing, painting and metalworking at the Clipper Mill Holiday Open House today. Metal sculptures, oil and pastel paintings, furniture and other artwork from Anthony Corradetti, Paul Daniel, Lisa Egeli, Les Harris and others will be on display. The event also celebrates the grand opening of the Corradetti Glass Blowing Studio. There will be live music and refreshments. Werner's luncheonette, the downtown fixture that closed in April 2011, was set to reopen this week, according to its new owner, John Smoudianis. The Redwood Street luncheonette was a gathering spot for politicians and lawyers and a favorite of movie and television location scouts. At the beginning, Werner's (231 E. Redwood St., 443-842-7430) will be open for breakfast and lunch on weekdays but may expand its operations, said Smoudianis, who said he'll have a grand opening for the lunchroom after a few weeks of working out the kinks.

A Virginia-based electrical engineering firm is opening a 43-employee office in Baltimore with plans to expand in the next few years. M.C. Dean Inc. said it will have a grand-opening event next week at its new facility, a former warehouse on Ostend Street in the city's Sharp-Leadenhall neighborhood. Lenny's Deli added a third location in Harborplace a few months ago, and just last week it threw itself a grand opening. Lenny's still operates in Harborplace and Owings Mills, but this expansion wasn't without its risks. So far, so good, says reviewer John Lindner, who discovered there a praiseworthy Reuben. Here's what else Lindner found at the new Lenny's Deli , which, I'm happy to pass along, serves breakfast all day.
