Survived by daughter Joanne Hassler and her husband Robert, granddaughters Kari and Stacie, and sister of Al Saduba, Mildred Kryglik and Virginia Widomski. Christian Wake Service at Kaczorowski Funeral Home, P.A., 1201 Dundalk Ave., on Wednesday at 7 P.M. Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart of Mary Church, on Thursday at 10 A.M. Interment Holy Rosary Cemetery.

On Saturday, October 31, 2009 at his home, LEONARD J. GRABOWSKI, 85, of Gettysburg, PA (formerly of Dundalk, MD). Born November 6, 1923 in Monogah, WVA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Murzyn) Grabowski. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fairfield, PA. Veteran of WW II serving with the U.S. Navy. Retired in 1985 after serving for 44 years with Bethlehem Steel at Sparrows Point, MD. Life member of the American Legion. Mr. Grabowski is survived by his 2nd wife, Phyllis (Janishefski)

On June 11, 2004 WILLIAM JOHN GRABOWSKI, beloved husband of Elizabeth Grabowski (nee Bellamy); devoted father of Eleanor and Stephen Grabowski; dear son of Lawrence F. Grabowski and stepson of Betty Grabowski; beloved son of the late Garnet Eleanor Grabowski; loving brother of Karen Wolfe, Jean Gisler, Ida Holloran, David, James and Alan Grabowski; several nieces and nephews also survived. A memorial service will be held Thursday 11 A.M. at the Church of the Redeemer. Interment was private.

The movement to alter or defeat a zoning bill intended to create a way to redevelop ailing Columbia village centers got an unexpected boost when the county Planning Board chairman revealed Monday night that he opposes the measure. The five-member board had split 2-2 on the issue March 23, passing the zoning bill on to the Howard County Council without a recommendation. David Grabowski, an Elkridge resident with a background in construction, had been out of town that night and Vice Chairman Gary Rosenbaum said he forgot to make a prearranged call to get the chairman's vote.

William John Grabowski, a Baltimore architect who specialized in designing health care facilities, died Friday at Johns Hopkins Hospital of complications from Eisenmenger syndrome, a congenital heart defect. The North Baltimore resident was 43. Mr. Grabowski was waiting for a heart and lung transplant at Hopkins at the time of his death. Born in North Olmsted, Ohio, and raised in Towson, he was a 1978 graduate of Loch Raven High School and earned a degree in architecture in 1982 from the University of Virginia.

When pitching great Roger Clemens and his former trainer, Brian McNamee, answered questions from a congressional committee yesterday about Clemens' alleged steroid use, one of them wasn't telling the truth. That disconnect in credibility, rather than steroids or human growth hormone, was the theme of the nearly five-hour hearing. Congressmen spent much of the session picking at the stories of Clemens and McNamee. "Someone's lying in spectacular fashion," Rep. Tom Davis, a Virginia Republican, said in setting up the thrust of questioning.

Josephine Grabowski did not expect, at age 86, to be pulling herself precariously out of her wheelchair to change her son's soiled bedsheets. In fact, she did not expect her son Frankie, now 48, to be alive at all. When her son was born, Grabowski's doctor informed her that "Mongoloid" children like hers did not live past their teens. But as medicine advanced and home care improved, thousands of developmentally disabled baby boomers like Frankie Grabowski are outliving their elderly parents for the first time.

David Grabowski, a longtime community activist, has been nominated to fill a vacancy that has persisted for eight months on the Howard County Planning Board. The nomination was sent yesterday to the County Council, but his confirmation is regarded as a formality. Grabowski, 50, is a lifetime Elkridge resident and has a broad record of community service. He is chairman of the county's Recreation and Parks Advisory Committee, president of the Greater Elkridge Community Association and vice president of the Elkridge Business and Professional Association.
