Charlotte, N.C. -- Elizabeth City State defeated Bowie State, 59-54, in the semifinals of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's basketball tournament at Bobcats Arena last night. Bowie State (19-9) was led by Gil Goodrich with 16 points and six rebounds. Tyronne Beale had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Elizabeth City State led by seven in the first half, but the Bulldogs battled back and took a 27-24 lead at halftime. The Bulldogs cut the Vikings' lead to 53-52 on Joshua Johnson's layup with 3:16 remaining, but Elizabeth City State outscored the Bulldogs 6-2 in the remaining minutes.

On May 17, 2006 GOODRICH D. BRAME, JR.; beloved husband of the late Lois S. Brame; devoted father of Goodrich H. Brame and loving brother of Marion Washington, Annie B. Harris. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews as well as extended family and friends. He was born May 28, 1918 in Townsville, NC. He moved to Henderson, NC in 1926. He graduated High School from Henderson Institute in Henderson, NC and continued his education at St. Paul's College in Lawrenceville, VA. He then graduated from Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, AL, where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture.

They call Adrienne Goodrich "A." It's a nickname that an elementary teacher gave her, and it stuck, according to her mother, Susan."A," a sophomore at Hereford High, lives in Hampstead. Both her mother and her father, Herb, are tenpin bowlers, averaging 160 and 185, respectively."A" started with duckpins when she was 5 and switched to tenpins at 10. She shot a 226 when she was 13, took second place in the Hammer Open Youth Pro Am at Country Club Lanes in Baltimore in 1992 and won the Division II title in the PCA event at Bowl America Odenton last year.

Gil Goodrich, a 5-foot-8 shooting guard who averaged 16 points, four assists and two steals for Catholic League champion Towson Catholic, transferred earlier this week to Newport Prep School in Kensington, officials from both schools confirmed yesterday.Goodrich continued to practice with the Owls until Tuesday, the day his transfer became official.Newport Prep athletic director Stacey Lawrence confirmed yesterday that Goodrich participated in Thursday night's 95-63 victory at Wilson of Washington and departed yesterday with the team for the Keystone Roundball Classic at Lebanon (Pa.)

Finally, at the age of 24, Gil Goodrich has found his niche. Order and commitment now rule the Linthicum native, who is a serious contender for the national scoring title and a fan favorite wherever he appears in the predominantly African-American Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The white point guard has immense skills, a flashy style and the ability to find open teammates whenever he is double- and triple-teamed, which is almost always.
