You know the Goo Goo Dolls' hits: "Name," "Long Way Down," "Slide," "Black Balloon" and, of course, the once-ubiquitous ballad from the "City of Angels" soundtrack, "Iris. " But what about the less popular album cuts? Like any band with material spanning decades, the Goo Goo Dolls have hidden gems in their catalog. Here are five worth seeking out. "On the Lie" (from 1993's "Superstar Car Wash") It's mainly a strange back-and-forth conversation between a man and woman, but this song highlights Rzeznik's ability to craft unique - and even mysterious - characters.

In the mid-'90s, after nine years of unsuccessfully slogging it out on the indie rock scene, Goo Goo Dolls singer Johnny Rzeznik set a personal deadline. If the Goo Goo Dolls still weren't making money by the time he turned 30, Rzeznik would go back to college and pursue a normal life. He cut it close: Rzeznik was 29 and a half when his ballad "Name" lit up the charts in 1995 and became the elusive hit he'd been looking for all these years. Rzeznik was blind-sided. "I was like, 'You've got to be kidding me,' especially with the song that broke us, which was a ballad," he said.

John Rzeznik, lead singer of the Goo Goo Dolls, should know a thing or two about wedding songs. He wrote the inescapable hit "Iris" in 1998, which plenty of newly married couples have played for their first dance, including, most famously, singer Avril Lavigne in 2006. And yet, for his own upcoming wedding in July, Rzeznik has no clue what song he and his fiance, Melina Gallo, will dance to. "I'm just happy that I'm getting married. I'm looking forward to it, but I'm still a guy," Rzeznik said from his Los Angeles home recently.

Ask bassist Robbie Takac how things are going for his band, the Goo Goo Dolls, and you can almost hear his smile across the telephone line. "It's almost like a dream-come-true," he says, over the phone from a tour stop in Lansing, Mich. "I mean, our biggest problem with getting songs on the radio right now is we have too many songs on the radio -- which is not a bad position for yourself to be in, really."Since releasing "Dizzy Up the Girl" in 1998, the Goo Goo Dolls have had two No. 1 singles -- "Iris," which also appeared on the soundtrack to "City of Angels," and "Slide" -- and have been on the charts almost constantly.

Goo Goo Dolls may be a regrettable choice for a band name -- even the members of the rock trio have admitted that -- but it's apparently worth fighting for as a brand name. The group from Buffalo, N.Y., which hit it big with the song "Iris" in 1998, is now fighting its label, Warner Bros. Records, for control of the googoodolls.com Web site, and the feud recently prompted the band to set up a competing "official" site at googoodolls.org that is nearly identical in the nature of its content.
