Goldie C. Weisbecker, a retired bookkeeper and duckpin bowler, died Friday of respiratory failure at her daughter's Dundalk home, where she had lived for the past two years. She was 90. Goldie Cosser was born in Wheeling, W.Va., and moved to Dundalk with her family as a child. She was a graduate of Baltimore County public schools. Mrs. Weisbecker was the longtime head bookkeeper at J. J. Haines and Co., a Glen Burnie-based floor covering company, until her 1984 retirement.

Mama Nikki was hollering from somewhere back in the kitchen, her kitchen, at Pimlico Race Course. "I don't have a lot of food out yet!" she barked, less as an apology than an explanation. The smell of fried goodness said otherwise. So did the row of metal pans glistening with golden-brown salmon cakes, fried chicken, liver and onions, collards and corn. Her name is Goldie Morris, but for decades she's been known around Pimlico simply as Mama Nikki. Since 1969, she's been whipping up filling meals for trainers, track employees, media types and jockeys.

Lillian Elizabeth Springmann, an elementary school teacher whose career spanned nearly three decades, died of pneumonia Nov. 28 at Franklin Square Hospital. The former longtime Parkville resident was 97. Miss Springmann was born in Baltimore and raised on North Port Street. She was a 1929 graduate of Eastern High School and earned her teacher certification from the old Maryland State Normal School, now Towson University, in 1931. In the 1940s, Miss Springmann began attending night school at the Johns Hopkins University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in education in 1952.
