Both descriptions of Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir are given credence in William Gibson's Golda's Balcony. Journey with Golda The lowdown -- Yeshivat Rambam Maimonides Academy of Baltimore will celebrate its 15th anniversary Sunday with a presentation of The Journey to Golda's Balcony. The production features Tovah Feldshuh, a 2004 Tony Award nominee for Best Actress, discussing her portrayal of former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir. Proceeds benefit the Yeshivat Rambam Scholarship Fund. The play Golda's Balcony, with Valerie Harper in the lead role, will hit the Hippodrome Theatre in May. EVENT THE 89TH FLOWER MART Nothing says spring like maypole dancing. Tomorrow and Saturday, catch Baltimore's 89th annual Flower Mart in Mount Vernon. The two-day "Baltimore's Bee...utiful Bouquet"-themed event will feature floral, craft and antiques vendors, live music, children's theater and other concerts and entertainment. History buffs can take architectural tours of Mount Vernon and get the chance to sample the festival's signature lemon and peppermint sticks. Afternoon champagne and cheese statuary tours will also run in Mount Vernon Park.

Golda, a 2 1/2 -year-old black-haired Vietnamese potbellied pig, snorted and flared her wet nose at Fairfield Nursing Center residents yesterday as she made her way down the hallway as part of Anne Arundel County's Pets on Wheels program.The private, nonprofit program provides a sort of pet therapy for the residents of nursing homes, assisted-living facilities and adult day care centers by bringing volunteers and their pets to visit.The one-woman operation is run by Karen Martin from a cubicle in a fourth-floor office at Arundel Center North on Crain Highway in Glen Burnie.

Services for Judith K. Bauman of Severna Park will be held at 11 a.m. today at Barranco and Sons Funeral Home.Mrs. Bauman, 81, died suddenly Tuesday at North Arundel Hospital.She was born in Denver and immigrated to Palestine with her parents, Samuel and Shana Korngold, and aunt, Golda Meir (who was later tobecome a prime minister of Israel), in 1921 on the SS Pocahontas, later dubbed the "Mayflower of Israel."Mrs. Bauman was a 1932 graduate of the British Government Hospital School of Nursing in Palestineand returned to the United States in 1937 for postgraduate study.

JERUSALEM -- Israel's governing Labor Party nominated as its candidate for president yesterday Ezer Weizman, a former air force commander and defense minister who became a "super dove" while helping to make peace with Egypt.Mr. Weizman, 68, won 52 percent of the votes from 1,186 members of the Labor Party's central committee, easily defeating another liberal, Arie "Lova" Eliav, and a center-right candidate, Shlomo Hillel.Dismissed from the "national unity government" of Yitzhak Shamir, then prime minister, three years ago for talking with leaders of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Mr. Weizman symbolizes to many Israelis their quest for peace with the country's Arab neighbors, including the Palestinians.
