Taylor Cummings McDonogh, jr., midfield Highlighting the one thing Cummings does best would be impossible. A superb end-to-end player, the junior led the No. 1 Eagles in scoring but also proved a difficult matchup in the midfield, where she excelled on the draw and hounded opponents on defense. Cummings, an All-Metro first teamer last year, led the Eagles (19-0) in almost every statistical category, including points (75) and goals (60). She scored five times — including the game-winner — in an 18-17 victory over No. 2 Roland Park for the Eagles' third straight IAAM AConference championship and their 51st straight win. In the midfield, she simply overwhelmed many opponents and led the team in draw controls (80)

1. McDonogh Coach: Chris Robinson Last season: 20-0, ranked No. 1 Postseason: IAAM A Conference champion Outlook: The Eagles have won two straight A Conference crowns, and that streak should continue despite a tough schedule both in the conference and out. Every year the Eagles graduate some of the area's best players, but they have so much depth that they can simply reload. Speed, skill, depth, firepower, defense — they've got it all. 2. Notre Dame Prep Coaches : Mary Bartel, Lisa Costello Last season: 18-4, No. 2 Postseason: IAAM A Conference runner-up Outlook: About half of the Blazers' starters graduated, so they have some rebuilding to do early, but don't expect that to last long.

Dream Team coach Rick Faby was warned that it was going to be difficult to compete in the Presidents Cup Lightning indoor tournament for 9-10 girls in Hampstead. As it turned out, their rivals in the tourney were the ones to be fearful of the Dream Team - a group of Lutherville and Reisterstown neighborhood friends coached by Faby and Dan Hammerschlag. The Dream Team waltzed through the tourney bracket, steamrolling Valley Girls, Red Shirts, Valley Girls 2 and South Carroll before beating Severna Park's Flash, 8-4, in the championship.

This week may be the busiest week of the spring season with many tournaments scheduled while a lot of public school teams are off for Easter break. Catonsville's girls lacrosse team got a jump on its week off, winning Franklin's tournament Monday. The Comets, one of the area's up-and-coming teams, handled the competition pretty easily, beating Patuxent, 19-7, in the semifinals and Old Mill, 18-3 in the championship. Rachel Schwaab had seven goals and seven assists in the two games while Deb Milani scored nine goals.

1. McDonogh Coach: Chris Robinson Last season: 18-0, No. 1 Postseason: IAAM A Conference champion Outlook: The Eagles graduated key contributors from the team that won a fourth straight conference title and finished No. 1 in ESPN High School's Fab 50, but they return so many good players that they remain the clear front runners until someone beats them. That hasn't happened in nearly four years. The Eagles boast a powerhouse offense that is led by Megan Whittle and Sammi Burgess.
