Zoe Stukenberg Marriotts Ridge, senior, midfield When the pressure is on, Zoe Stukenberg is at her best. Perhaps the best example came when her No. 2 Mustangs defeated archrival No. 7 Mount Hebron, 14-13, in double overtime during the regular season. Stukenberg scored to tie the game with about a minute left in regulation, assisted the buzzer-beating goal to force a second overtime period, then scored the game-winning goal. Stukenberg, an All-Metro first-team selection last season, went on to lead the Mustangs (18-1)

Broadneck's No. 10 girls lacrosse team didn't need much time to assert its dominance in Wednesday night's Class 4A-3A state championship at UMBC. After five minutes of back-and-forth play, the Bruins reeled off 12 straight goals and ran away with their first title in 11 years, 21-5 over previously-undefeated Sherwood, the first Montgomery County girls team to reach the title game. Ellie McNulty scored four goals and Aislinn Probst added three, all in the 12-goal run. By the time Zoe Ernest's free-position goal gave the Bruins a 13-3 lead and kicked in the running clock for good with 6 minutes, 08 seconds left in the first half, coach Karen Tengwall already had subbed for her starting attackers.

Four players from No. 1 McDonogh's undefeated girls lacrosse team headline the South roster for the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic July 6 at Towson University's Johnny Unitas Stadium. Sammie Burgess, Casey Black, Maggie Preas and Posey Valis helped the Eagles to their fifth straight Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference championship and likely the final No. 1 ranking in the Nike/US Lacrosse High School Girls' Lacrosse National Top 25. The Eagles have been ranked No. 1 all season and if they stay there, they would be ranked the top team in the country for the fourth straight season.

For a Marriotts Ridge girls lacrosse team that has outscored most opponents by huge margins, defense made all the difference in Wednesday's Class 3A-2A South regional championship. Senior defender Alex McKay knew it wouldn't be long before her No. 6 Mustangs outlasted archrival Mount Hebron, 11-8, for their third regional title in four years. "It was important for us to play together and play as a team," McKay said. "This is one of the best games I think our defense has played.

McDonogh's No. 1 girls lacrosse team didn't finish its season with a perfect game, but the end result still added up to perfection, especially for the senior class. The Eagles rallied from four goals down to beat St. Paul's, 11-8, Monday afternoon to put the finishing touch on a 22-0 season with their fifth straight Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference championship. The 17 McDonogh seniors did not lose a game during their high school careers as the Eagles ran their winning streak to 91 games, the country's longest active girls lacrosse streak and the third longest in history behind the record of 103 set by Loch Raven in 1982 and matched by Mount Hebron in 2007.
