An East Baltimore man was fatally shot and his girlfriend critically injured Wednesday night while they were walking together in the 2500 block of Greenmount Ave., police said.Curtis Bellamy, 29, of the 2500 block of Barclay St. died at Maryland Shock Trauma Center of head and chest wounds, police said. The woman, Bonetha Walker, 27, who police said lived with Mr. Bellamy, sustained multiple wounds to the chest and was in critical but stable condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital.Dmitri Tyson, 22, of the 2700 block of E. Monument St., was arrested at his home late Wednesday and charged with murder and attempted murder of the couple.

The big story in Baltimore lately has been about a situation between a former boyfriend and girlfriend. But the story's not about teenagers. The "boyfriend" and "girlfriend" are in their 50s. She's the mayor; he's a big-time developer. A few years ago, Baltimore had a police commissioner, Kevin P. Clark, who got into an argument with the woman he lived with. Their dispute made the news. She said she was Mr. Clark's wife. He said she was his fianc?e, whom he has been dating for 14 years.

County police last night arrested a man in connection with the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, whose body was dumped behind a lumber yard on Dorsey Road in Hanover.Police said the shooting occurred about 6:30 p.m. yesterday in a unit at the Hidden Woods Apartments in the 400 block of Hidden Brook Drive. They said that after dumping the body, the man returned to the apartment, where he was arrested.Officers said that the man was being questioned at the Eastern District station and that homicide and deadly weapon charges were pending.

A 35-year-old man was arrested yesterday and charged with kidnapping his ex-girlfriend Sunday from her Columbia apartment, Howard County police said.Police believe a man went to the woman's apartment in the 4900 block of Blue Wing Court around 6 p.m., knocked on her door, and forced her into his car, said Sgt. Morris Carroll, Howard County police spokesman."

A 19-year-old Millersville man was shot in the back Tuesday in the culmination of a two-day dispute over a former girlfriend, county police said.Joseph Izaiah Proctor, 19, of the 400 block of Secluded Post Circle was treated at North Arundel Hospital and released. Investigators were interviewing Proctor and at least eight witnesses yesterday searching for information about the gunman.Investigators said Proctor argued about his former girlfriend with another man near his home on Monday. The argument seemed to end peacefully, but about 4 p.m. the next day, a group of men went to Proctor's apartment complex and reopened the argument.

An Ellicott City man has been charged with breaking in to his girlfriend's house armed with a World War II-style rifle yesterday morning.Kalvin Ray Shiver, 34, of the 8600 block of Falls Run, was charged with breaking and entering, assault and battery, reckless endangerment and weapons violations, police said.Police said a man armed with a .30-caliber M-1 carbine and a knife broke into a house in the 7600 block of Coach Light Lane in Ellicott City about 2: 10 a.m. and threatened to kill his girlfriend, her brother and another person inside.

A 21-year-old Baltimore County man who pleaded guilty to killing the mother of his estranged girlfriend after an argument was sentenced to life in prison yesterday by Balti- more Circuit Judge John C. Themelis.Kevin M. Robinson of the 100 block of Nunnery Lane told Judge Themelis that he did not remember what happened last Jan. 16 when he stabbed 42-year-old Thelma Mozell Welborn after an argument at Ms. Welborn's home in the 400 block of Random Road in Southwest Baltimore.Robinson, who had been the boyfriend of Ms. Welborn's daughter, apparently was distraught that their relationship had ended, according to prosecutors.

A Finksburg man was arrested late Wednesday and charged with assault after he was accused of severely beating and pushing his girlfriend down the stairs at their home.Leonardo SanJuan Martinez, 42, was held on $50,000 bail after a District Court judge heard from Natasha Byus, an assistant state's attorney, that Kimberly Ann Tieszen, the alleged victim, was treated for bruises, scratches and a fractured and dislocated shoulder at Carroll County General Hospital. She was released.Byus also told Judge JoAnn Ellinghaus-Jones that the defendant had two assault charges in 1993 and 1994, possibly involving the same woman.

A Mount Airy man accused of raping and threatening to kill his live-in girlfriend last month was arrested without incident at his home Wednesday night, state police said.The 33-year-old man, who is not being identified to protect the privacy of the woman, is being held without bail at the Carroll County Detention Center, court records show. He has requested a public defender to represent him at an Oct. 3 preliminary hearing in Carroll County District Court.In a statement of charges on first-degree rape, false imprisonment, assault, battery and assault by threat, state police said they were called to Frederick Memorial Hospital on Aug. 3.The woman was treated for cuts to her arm and hand, and police say they saw bruises on her arms, hands and thigh.
