The greatest commencement address ever is now more than three decades old. And it's safe to say it will never be surpassed or even equaled. It belongs to the ages. In 1979, its author summed up the condition of modern man by noting that, quote, more than at any other time in history, humanity is at the crossroads: One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness; the other, to total extinction. Let us pray we have the wisdom to choose correctly. Unquote. Bang. That's all she wrote.

Dave Pietramala's reputation for being cautious and methodical precedes him as he takes to the recruiting trail every summer. The Johns Hopkins coach cast that aside when it came to wooing Zach Palmer. In 2008, Pietramala received an email from former Georgetown standout Brodie Merrill, the coach at The Hill Academy, a prep school in Ontario, Canada. Embedded in the email was a four-minute video clip of a small, fast attackman who dodged, dippedand dazzled against his opponents.

Sam Hurster got open in front of the net with 4.7 seconds left and finished off the upset as Brown beat top-ranked host Cornell, 10-9, at Schoellkopf Field. The Bears improved to 6-7, 2-3 Ivy League, while the Big Red dropped to 9-2, 4-1. The loss ruined Cornell's Senior Day celebration and ended its national-best 15-game winning streak. It also dropped the Big Red a game behind Princeton in the standings heading into next weekend's showdown in New Jersey. The winner of that game will host the Ivy League tournament.

Loyola attackman Eric Lusby is on pace for a career year, and he may just have a season-ending knee injury to thank for his surge. The fifth-year senior tore the anterior cruciate ligament and the medial collateral ligament in his right knee in an NCAA Tournament first-round loss to Cornell in 2010 and a slower-than-expected healing process forced him to abandon last season. This spring, he has paired with junior attackman Mike Sawyer to spark the No. 8 Greyhounds to their first 7-0 start since 2002, and the Severna Park native and graduate is enjoying every minute of it. “I think it was a tremendous help, taking a step back, taking a year off and not playing,” Lusby said of redshirting 2011.
