Relatives and friends are invited to call at Loring Byers Funeral Directors, 8728 Liberty Rd (2 miles W. of Beltway exit 18B) on Friday, May 13 at 9:30 A.M. Funeral will follow at Funeral Home at 10:30 A.M. Interment Arbutus Memorial Park.

On May 7, 2005; MALCOLM OWEN GASKINS; beloved son of Maxine Gaskins and the late John T. Gaskins, Jr; devoted father of Marquida Gaskins-Gilbert, Tanyelle Sutton and Malcolm Gaskins Jr; loving brother of John Gaskins III. He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. On Friday, friends may call at the VAUGHN C. GREENE FUNERAL SERVICES, 5151 Balto. Nat'l Pike, from 3 to 8 P.M. On Saturday, Mr. Gaskins will lie instate at Douglas Memorial Christian Community Church, 1325 Madison Avenue, where the family will receive from 10 to 10:30 A.M. with services to follow.

Sidna J. Gaskins, a retired school crossing guard, died of complications from a stroke Thursday at Ridgeway Manor Nursing Home. The Ashburton resident was 94. Born Sidna Elizabeth Pamilla Jones, she was raised in the 4600 block of Falls Road, then a historically black neighborhood known as Cross Keys. She was a 1927 graduate of Frederick Douglass High School. In 1935, she married Howard Gaskins, a chauffeur and Crown Cork & Seal laborer. He died in 1980. To help support a growing family, Mrs. Gaskins took in laundry and helped her children sell snowballs and candy applies on her front porch.
