UPPER MARLBORO -- Former Maryland basketball player Travis Garrison's trial on a charge that he committed a fourth-degree sex offense was postponed yesterday. The trial was rescheduled for Jan. 8 in Prince George's County by Circuit Court Judge Vincent J. Femia. Garrison was charged with grabbing the buttocks of a woman three times against her objections and striking her in the face with his hand at the Cornerstone Grill and Loft around 1:15 a.m. on Oct. 27, 2005. He pleaded guilty to the sex offense in June and was sentenced to 60 days in a correctional facility, all but 10 of which were suspended, but is now seeking a trial, according to the Prince George's County state's attorney office.

Garrison is a small, unassuming pocket of history tucked in among the ever-expanding borders of Owings Mills. With less than 2 percent of the county's population, Garrison is really little more than an enclave of stately old homes and a smattering of newer townhouses. In marked contrast to many communities ringing the Baltimore Beltway, Garrison has seen only moderate levels of residential development in recent years. And much of what's new is clustered on either side of old Craddock Lane, just off Reisterstown Road (including Queen Ann Village and the brand new Garrison Overlook)
