On Monday, December 29, 2003, MARY, beloved wife of Homer Garrison; devoted mother and mother-in-law of Jean and Angel Santamaria; beloved grandmother of Greta, Patrick and Molly Thomas; step-sons Angel and Keir Santamaria; loving sister of John and Walter Jennings and Lorraine Nelson; predeeased by sister Lillian Loving. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Havenwood Presbyterian Church in Lutherville. Interment will be private. Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster are in charge of arrangements.

WASHINGTON -- When Zina Garrison's second serve skipped off the top of the net and sailed out for a double fault on match point last night, it was the end of a dismal evening for the fifth seed in the Virginia Slims of Washington tennis tournament.Garrison had just been blown away by second seed Arantxa Sanchez Vicario of Spain, 6-3, 6-2, in a quarterfinal match before 5,436 at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center.So much for a complete turnaround of Garrison's tennis fortunes.Garrison, a crowd favorite in Washington, will have to wait until next week's U.S. Open to continue righting what is wrong with her game.

Bernice T. Garrison, a retired Social Security Administration disability worker who was active in community affairs, died of complications from cancer Nov. 26 at Maryland General Hospital. The Northwest Baltimore resident was 76. Born Bernice Thelma Lamb in Wilmington, N.C., and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., she attended Hunter College before moving to Baltimore in 1953. Mrs. Garrison was a Department of Motor Vehicles clerk-typist before joining the Social Security Administration in 1964 at Woodlawn.

William K. Garrison Sr., a retired cabinetmaker and apartment maintenance worker, died of cancer Wednesday at the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Rehabilitation & Extended Care Center. He was 76, and lived in the city's Medfield neighborhood. Born in Baltimore and raised in Medfield, Mr. Garrison attended city public schools. His work at the old Franklin Balmar Co. was interrupted by service with the Navy in China at the end of World War II and later during the Korean War. He returned to the company and became a woodworker, making aircraft skin parts and rising to the post of general manager.

George Alvin Garrison IV, a college senior and former Baltimore resident, died Aug. 10 in an automobile accident in Elk Creek Township, Pa. He was 24. Mr. Garrison was a passenger in a car that hit a tree and caught fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene, family members said. Born in Baltimore and raised on Henrietta Street, he was a 2000 graduate of Mount St. Joseph High School in Irvington, where he had been a member of the varsity track team and National Honor Society, and had performed with the drama club.

Henry (1957-77) is, or was, a pet goat.Another face belongs to Don, former quarterback (1960-68) of the Dallas Cowboys. Meredith is honored in a photograph. What you see of Henry is his actual head.People and animals hang out at the U.S. Tobacco Sales and Marketing Co. office. About 1,200 are fixed to the wall in photographs. Henry, a Longhorn steer and a buffalo are attached by their necks.

William Harry Garrison, a professional pianist and piano tuner, died of lung cancer Sunday at Union Memorial Hospital. He was 46 and lived in Baltimore's Mayfield neighborhood. Born in Norfolk, Va., and raised in Virginia Beach, Mr. Garrison began playing piano at age 7. He earned a bachelor's degree in piano performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in 1982. Mr. Garrison, who specialized in show tunes and popular music, began his career playing piano in the 1970s at the old Chambord Restaurant on North Charles Street.

By the time her championship match against Martina Navratilova rolled around, Garrison was able to trade in Navratilova signature clothing for some of her own.Garrison signed a six-figure endorsement deal with Reebok 24 hours before her 6-4, 6-1 loss to Navratilova.
