POLICE LOG* Hickory Ridge: 6300 block of Golden Hook: Golf clubs, tapes and a saw were stolen from a garage Wednesday. Police said a garage door opener was taken from an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway and used to open the garage door.

A Laurel man was treated at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center and released Tuesday afternoon after he was pinned between the bucket of a front-end loader and a steel trash container, officials said.Hugh Peter Fletcher, 26, of the 9500 block of McGuirk Road was loading debris from a construction site into the trash container shortly before noon when the accident occurred, police said. The construction site was in the 700 block of Crain Highway in Glen Burnie. Mr. Fletcher works for B & R Associates in Beltsville, police said.

The power went out again and the flashlight batteries were either in the portable tape player or in the portable TV, neither of which I could find without a flashlight.I knew we had candles, but I also knew we didn't have matches.Nobody smokes anymore, so nobody has matches anymore unless the tobacco companies have addicted you to nicotine, in which case you don't even notice power failures because you spend all your time sitting around and smoking anyway.So I ran over to my neighbor, who was standing outside on his porch.

An unknown amount of property was taken.*Guilford: 7200 block of Procopio Circle: A red, white and blue 1993 Honda CR 80 dirt bike was stolen between Thursday and Sunday, police said.

POLICE LOG* Ellicott City: 3100 block of Boones Lane: Someone broke glass in the front door of a vacant house between May 29 and Wednesday, but nothing was taken, police said.10200 block of Tuscany Drive: A resident awoke early yesterday morning to the sound of the garage door opening. The resident saw a man wearing a white cap walking away from the garage. Police said the garage door had been left unlocked and nothing had been taken.

POLICE LOG* Long Reach: 8800 block of Blade Green Lane: Someone tried to enter a maroon 1986 Subaru last Wednesday by tampering with the lock on a passenger side door, police said.5400 block of Tree Frog Place: Someone broke through a dining room window Friday or Saturday and stole a VCR, CD player, jewelry and a bank. Police said three windows were shattered and a garage door was pried during the burglary.Owen Brown: 9300 block of Wheat Sheaf Way: The rear window of a maroon Nissan Stanza was smashed some time between Nov. 5 and Wednesday, police said.
