A shotgun, jewelry, videocassette recorder, television, fax machine and printer were stolen.Ellicott City: 10200 block of Raleigh Tavern Lane: Jewelry, computer equipment and frozen food were stolen from a house Monday after someone kicked in the front door.Ellicott City: 2500 block of N. Farm Drive: A fax machine, computer equipment and videocassette recorder were stolen from a house Monday or Tuesday.

After the arrest of two boys who jumped from a stolen Jeep Cherokee in Baltimore yesterday, Baltimore County police were searching for two suspects they believe may be part of a theft ring that used garage door openers to steal electronic equipment from homes.Two youths, ages 15 and 17, were arrested by Baltimore City police officers when they jumped from the stolen Jeep at Clifton Avenue and Ellamont Street near Walbrook Avenue after a chase that started at about 6 a.m. Two men who also jumped from the truck and fled are being sought.

ONE RECENT MORNING a six-foot male sauntered down the alley behind my house, walked into my garage and rode off with my 8-year-old daughter's brand-new bike. A girl's bike, I should add, the kind of thing I as a boy would never have been caught dead riding. I would rather have walked barefoot on a highway of upended Legos.It was only a bike theft. Not a rape or murder, thankfully, but the pettiest sort of crime, one that has become as common an occurrence in my neighborhood as a summer thunderstorm.

Someone broke into a Millersville home overnight Monday and stole a camera bag containing $1,500 worth of equipment, county police said.Etta Lynch McGuire of the 300 block of Cool Ridge Court called police about 7: 30 a.m. to report that her husband had found their garage door and a door leading to the living room open when he went outside to get the paper at 6 a.m.The interior door was propped open with a shoe from the garage, police said.McGuire told police the garage door probably was left open and the interior door closed but not locked.
