Called home to God Sunday, July 9 at the age of 89. Born in Philadelphia, she entered the Little Sisters of the Poor and pronounced her first Vows December 9, 1938. For the next 68 years she cared for the elderly in Homes throughout the United States through her devoted service and later through prayer. She came to St. Martin's Home, Catonsville on July 9, 1982. Beloved sister of Betty Kay (Galena, MD) and many nieces and nephews. Visitation at St. Martin's Home (Little Sisters of the Poor)

Frances E. Rohrbaugh, 80, laboratory administrator Frances E. Rohrbaugh, a longtime medical technologist and laboratory administrator, died Tuesday of heart and kidney failure at St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson. She was 80. Born in Galena, Kan., Ms. Rohrbaugh graduated as valedictorian of Galena High School in 1937 and then attended Kansas State Teachers College, intending to go to medical school. Although she was accepted at several medical schools, Ms. Rohrbaugh suspended her dream of becoming a doctor for financial reasons.

$1.4 million expected from new, increased feesBaltimore County residents will have to pay either a $3 daily or a $15 yearly fee to launch their boats from county park boat ramps this year -- just two of eight new fees County Executive Roger B. Hayden is asking the council to pass.The new fees, together with recent increases in a long list of existing fees, are intended to make local services self-supporting. All told, they would bring in an estimated $1.4 million in new revenue every year, according to county administrative officer Merreen Kelly.

James and Senia Hagy, equipment operator, secretary Services for James Arthur Hagy and Senia Starlene Harry Hagy, a Centreville couple killed last week in a motorcycle accident, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Galena Funeral Home, 118 W. Cross St., Galena. Mr. Hagy, 45, and Mrs. Hagy, 44, were riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when it collided with a pickup truck Friday at Routes 301 and 305 in Queen Anne's County. Mr. Hagy was pronounced dead at the scene, and his wife died after being flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Four people, including two children, died early Saturday in a mobile home fire in Earleville in Cecil County, the state fire marshal's office reports. The fire at 645 Knights Island Road was reported about 2 a.m., said Bruce D. Bouch, deputy fire marshal. The identities of the victims were not released. One of the children was believed to be 8 years old, and the other 4 months old, Bouch said. About 40 firefighters from Cecilton, Galena, Millington, Betterton, Chesapeake City, Hack's Point and Middletown, Del., brought the fire under control in about an hour, according to the fire marshal's office.

Overcoming sickness, poor post position and the toughest group of fillies she has ever faced, Sanabelle Island won her 23rd straight race last night at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J.The 3-year-old Maryland-bred is now one victory from tying the record winning streak by a 3-year-old pacing filly.In 1973 and 1974, Handle With Care won 24 in a row.Trained and driven by Steve Warrington of Galena on the Eastern Shore, Sanabelle Island prevailed by a length in the first round of the Mistletoe Shallee Stakes.

Gerard P. Coleman, 54, social services employeeGerard P. "Jerry" Coleman, 54, a retired social services employee who found quiet joy in trains, coin collecting and meteorology, died of unknown causes July 12 at his Betterton home on the Eastern Shore.Born in Philadelphia, he graduated from Chestertown High School in 1962 and spent a year at the University of Baltimore. He enlisted in the Army National Guard and served two years before being honorably discharged in 1966.Mr. Coleman retired in 1988 after nearly two decades at the Department of Social Services in Baltimore.

Dorothy W. Myers, a retired bookkeeper and lifelong Chestertown resident, died of pneumonia Friday at Chester River Hospital Center. She was 100. Born Dorothy Woodall in Chestertown, she was the daughter of Washington Irving Woodall, a well-known Tolchester Line steamboat captain. She was a graduate of Chestertown High School and earned her bachelor's degree in 1924 from Washington College. She was a bookkeeper at Chestertown Bank of Maryland for 40 years before retiring in 1967. Mrs. Myers was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she sang with the choir for many years.

Anita Carter, 66, who sang and played stand-up bass with the country music act the Carter Sisters, died Thursday in Nashville, Tenn.The younger sister of June Carter Cash and sister-in-law of Johnny Cash had suffered from rheumatoid arthritis for several years. The cause of death was not immediately known.Rear Adm. Hugh Balfour, 66, who helped modernize Britain's Royal Navy, was the captain of a destroyer in the Falkland Islands War and later commanded Oman's navy, died of cancer June 29 in London.
