An 18-year-old Pasadena man was charged with robbery and assault after four assailants robbed a Brooklyn Park man of his starter jacket Sunday morning.According to the police report, David D. Marsh, 19, of the 3500 block of 3rd St. in Brooklyn Park was standing at Cuba Drive and Outing Avenue at 1:25 a.m. when four men walked up and began arguing with him.One of the men threatened Mr. Marsh with a large wooden ax handle and Mr. Marsh ran down Cuba Drive, police said.But the four men caught him and one punched Mr. Marsh and took his starter jacket, police said.

Troy White, one of four men charged in the killing of police Sgt. Bruce A. Prothero, will face a jury of eight women and four men when his trial begins next week in Baltimore County Circuit Court. Prosecutors and lawyers for White completed jury selection before Judge John G. Turnbull II yesterday. Turnbull asked jurors to return Monday for the start of the trial, which is expected to run two days. White is the second of four defendants to be tried in the slaying. Donald Antonio White, 19, who is unrelated, was convicted last month of first-degree felony murder, armed robbery and a handgun violation and is to be sentenced Sept.

4 ARRESTED ON COCAINE DISTRIBUTION CHARGESActing on a phone tip, undercover narcotics officers arrested four men on cocaine distribution charges Monday after setting up a sting operation in a Jessup parking lot, county police said.Police say they received information that the four men were coming to Howard County intending to sell crack cocaine.An undercover officer contacted one of the men about making a drug purchase and a meeting was arranged at an undisclosed parking lot, police said.

A man walked up behind the cashier at a Glen Burnie High's store as he was counting money early yesterday, grabbed a handful of cash and ran, county police said.A closed knife dropped out of his pocket as he fled.The robbery at the store in the 700 block of Church St. occurred about 7:30 a.m., police said.The thief was described as a black male with medium complexion in his early 20s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing a white baseball cap and a black three-quarter-length jacket.He may have fled in a black Chevrolet van with a partial Maryland tag of 21119M.

The owner of a Gardenville gun shop was shot and killed and another man seriously wounded today in a robbery committed by a gang of four men who stole at least 30 guns, city police said. Police have arrested three men in the robbery and were closing in on a fourth.Ed Scheuerman, owner of the Northeast Gun Shop at 4921 Belair Road, was pronounced dead at 12:27 p.m. at Francis Scott Key Medical Center. Police said he had been shot in the chest and wrist.The other man, a salesman whose identity was not known, was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

A Baltimore man has been convicted of asking an undercover police officer to kill four men, then trying to gun down two of them.A Harford Circuit Court jury deliberated less than 90 minutes Friday before unanimously returning guilty verdicts on 14 counts against Rynail M. "Pops" Waters.Waters, 23, stood with his back to Judge Cypert O. Whitfill, hands buried in his pockets, as his public defender, Ronald M. Stahl, had each of the 12 jury members polled. Ms. Miller, and companion Kate Swift, wrote many articles and two books on "male-biased" language.Their "Handbook of Nonsexist Writing," published in 1980, is an influential reference on how to avoid degrading women with words. They inspired changes to the language including the adoption of "artisan" instead of "craftsman" and elimination of the word "authoress."

4 men rob shoe store in PasadenaFour men robbed a Pasadena shoe store Friday night, forced two employees into a closet and got away with an undetermined amount of money, county police said.Police responding to a holdup alarm at the Payless Shoe Store in the first block of Mountain Road about 9:10 p.m. said they found two employees in the closet with their wrists taped together.The employees said the four men were looking around the store when one of them took out a silver handgun and ordered them to the back of the store.
