Two men from Atlanta rolled through Baltimore in a luxury coach early yesterday, stopping at the city's oldest public golf course to play 18 holes. It was their 11th game in their 11th state in as many days. And in the next six weeks, Bill Evans, a commercial real estate developer, and Craig Forney, a golf course owner, plan to tee off at public courses in all 50 states. They call their "50 in 50" trip an example of extreme fundraising, and the purpose is to raise money and awareness for breast cancer, prostate cancer and melanoma.

Brandon Earl Chaney was a high school sophomore with a mean pitching arm and a passion for hunting and driving all-terrain vehicles. The Carroll County youth, who turned 16 Sunday, didn't have a driver's license or a learner's permit. But relatives said he apparently sneaked out and took his family's sport utility vehicle for a drive early Tuesday. While on a country road, he lost control of the 1996 Ford Explorer, which slid off the road, overturned and struck a tree, police said, killing Chaney.

So you finally booked that Caribbean cruise. Splurged on a sexy new bikini. Picked up a paperback of that steamy best-seller. While you're shopping for sunscreen, you also may want to consider a few items to help keep you on deck instead of in the sick bay: in particular, antiseptic wipes and anti-diarrheal medication. Winter marks the height of cruise season, and coincidentally, a time when gastrointestinal illnesses make their rounds among people in close quarters. BOWIE -- He is the only member of the Bowie Baysox's 1994 "Fab Five" starting staff who is not playing as high as the Triple-A level. But Rick Forney is not whining about it.While Vaughn Eshelman has had success with the Boston Red && Sox, Scott Klingenbeck is up with the Orioles and Jimmy Haynes and Brian Sackinsky are thriving with the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings, Forney is back at Double-A Bowie, his pitching arm hurting and his career idling. The forkball, his out pitch, has increased both his strikeout totals and his pain level, and Forney is trying to recover both his health and a fastball that once approached 90 mph.Still, he is thankful to be living in his Arnold home, optimistic that his physical problems will abate and more understanding about what Latin players face here after playing in Venezuela last winter.
