A city police officer was shot this morning in Baltimore County by a man who then raced his Ford Bronco back into the city, sped along Interstate 95, shot a female hostage and finally shot himself in the head with the same gun.The suspect, a man believed to be from a South Baltimore neighborhood, was pronounced dead near the intersection of I-95 and Caton Avenue at mid-morning.The woman and the officer, who were not immediately identified, survived the shootings. A doctor said they were lucky to be alive.

Baltimore County Poice report that laptop computers were stolen in two seperate incidents last week in Towson. The first occurred 11 p.m., Sept. 19 and 6:25 a.m., Sept. 20 in the 400 block of Hopkins Boulevard. According to the police report, someone entered through an open window while resident slept, stole a aptop and left out front door. The second incident was between Sept. 21 and Sept. 22, times unknown. This theft occurred in the 8400 block of Charles Valley Court, and happened when a car was broken into.

Two motorists burned to death in a fiery, early-morning crash in Prince George's County yesterday, and two back seat passengers were killed Saturday evening when the small car in which they were riding veered off an interstate highway near Hancock, became airborne and collided head-on with an oncoming Ford Bronco.Also, a pedestrian attempting to cross a West Baltimore street against the signal was struck and killed by an eastbound car Saturday evening.The five fatalities raised to 11 the number of motorists and pedestrians killed in traffic accidents around Maryland this weekend, including a triple fatality in Anne Arundel County Friday night and a double fatality in Carroll County on Saturday.
