CM Punk's path has taken an unexpected turn. Many wondered where the champion would go after retaining his WWE Championship against Ryback at Sunday night's Hell in a Cell. The million-dollar question was answered in the opening segment of Raw, but it was an answer as unexpected as the conclusion of Sunday night's pay-per-view. Punk denied having any knowledge of referee Brad Maddox's plans for the evening, suggesting he did it to make it up to Punk for screwing him in a tag team match against John Cena several months ago. (Yay continuity!

Mick Foley's return to the ring - at the Genesis pay-per-view Jan. 11 - was announced on Thursday night's episode of TNA Impact. It wasn't exactly a secret, but it's big news for TNA nonetheless. Foley will team with A.J. Styles and Brother Ray against Booker T., Kevin Nash and Scott Steiner. It will be interesting to see whether Foley's TNA wrestling debut increases the buy rate for the show. I'm also curious how much Foley will be able to do in the ring at this point. Last weekend I attended the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame ceremony in Amsterdam, N.Y. It was great hearing such heartfelt speeches from legends of the industry and seeing so many familiar faces in the audience. One such face, Mick Foley, was in the audience enjoying the ceremony like everyone else and didn't even make a speech at the event. He drove four hours from his native Long Island to attend the induction of his trainer, the legendary Domenic DeNucci, then left less than an hour later.

Don't Know Tavern in South Baltimore has always been a reliably quiet neighborhood bar, especially appreciated by Red Sox and Patriots fans. But in the past year, Don't Know has gone through more upheaval than it has in all the four years it's been in business. In June, its longtime owner, Jason Zink, sold the business , partly to deal with the expense of a lawsuit that had been filed against him by five of the bar's former employees. In July, Zink settled the lawsuit, and soon after, new management took over.

Thursday might not be the best time to go to a bar to watch the Ravens. It's a home game, and it's Thanksgiving. You'll be hard-pressed to find many drink specials. In South Baltimore, the Irish pub Delia Foley's is offering the next best thing: cheap wings. The bar opened this year at the spot where Fort Charles Pub and Taps used to be. It is a prototypical pub, Lucky Charms-green and decorated with historical Irish flags. Though it carries all the usual beers, Delia Foley's has developed a reputation for its wings menu, which is as long as an Irish folk song.

The way Tiger Woods sees it, the makeover is no more radical than a baseball player showing up with a new batting stance. Hands high, hands low. Upright or hunched, open stance or closed. Same instrument, different style. Cal Ripken Jr. 's many stances never endured such scrutiny whenever he went 1-for-14 in a weekend. Then again, the insight Woods offered last week had the effect of hearing David Ortiz was being converted to a singles hitter. "I have to change everything," Woods said in one of his more unguarded revelations.

House Speaker Thomas S. Foley, the highest-ranking Democratic office-holder in the land, finds his leadership in question, his minions out of control and his beloved Congress at the bottom of the heap in public esteem. Scandal and setback are his daily fare, raising speculation that there may be a move in the next Congress to oust him and institute reforms he hasresisted until recently. The latest troubles to hit the Oregon Democrat:* His wife, Heather, an unpaid member of his staff, was called to testify before a federal grand jury investigating criminal activity at the House Post Office and possible cover-up attempts by persons answerable to the speaker;* In a House vote, Mr. Foley was unable to muster even a simple majority, let alone the two-thirds majority required to overturn President Bush's veto of the Democrats' election-year tax bill.
