The Cinderella team of this year's NCAA men's basketball tournament hails from Florida, but its coaches have Maryland roots. Andy Enfield set scoring records at Johns Hopkins before he became head coach at Florida Gulf Coast, the darling of the tournament. His assistant, Kevin "Stink" Norris, grew up in East Baltimore and starred at Lake Clifton. Together, they've put a local face on an upstart team that breaks new ground with every win. The Eagles are the first 15 t h seed in tourney history to make the Sweet 16, and an upset of No. 3 Florida on Friday night would carry Florida Gulf Coast further still.

My NCAA tournament brackets are in shambles. The South regional, in particular, looks like a vast Loser Wasteland. And no amount of Smithwicks (left over from St. Patrick's Day) can put a happy face on the horror that has been done there. Believe me, I've tried. Did I mention I had Georgetown going to the Final Four? I should probably mention that. And you know who knocked Georgetown out of the Big Dance, of course. Yes, the team that torched my dreams is none other than America's new darling, that scrappy bunch from the school no one's ever heard of, Florida Gulf Coast University, coached by Andy Enfield, who no one had ever heard of after he played for Johns Hopkins years ago. Thanks, Eagles.

After accepting the head coaching position at Florida Gulf Coast University in March 2011, Andy Enfield called his parents, Bill and Barbara, both of whom had seen their son achieve academic, business and athletic successes in high-profile places. Had they ever heard of the school? "No," Bill said. "No," Barbara said. "I mean, it's so new. " Now, though, sports fans are becoming familiar with a college located in Fort Myers, Fla., that enrolled its first student in 1997 and didn't begin playing Division I basketball until 2007.

With its Page 3 headline in the Real Estate Section about the sale of retired Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis' Florida home, The Sun continues to laud a professional athlete who leaves damaged business owners in his wake ("Live like Ray? It'll cost about $5 million," March 17)? Mr. Lewis' failed MVP Lanes in Hunt Valley got him favorable coverage in the paper twice, while contractors were so damaged that the proceeds from the sale of his home may not even cover their losses. What is wrong with this town? I know there are tons of people out there in Baltimore who are as angry at what just happened to our Super Bowl team as I am, but where is their voice? The word "fan" is short for "fanatic. " Where are the fanatics who will speak up? I listen to the sports talk shows all the time. I hear caller after caller saying stupid stuff like, "I'm excited about the new guys they're going to bring in. " And the line you always hear. "In Ozzie we trust. " On the dollar bill it says In God we Trust.

Alternative rock group Chevelle, Nashville country duo Florida-Georgia Line and Philadelphia-based cover band Kristen and the Noise will perform on the Jagermeister Stage at this year's Preakness InfieldFest on May 18, the Maryland Jockey Club announced today. The addition of two rock bands and a country act makes sense after the Club announced last month Top 40 staple Pitbull and rising hip-hop star(s) Macklemore & Ryan Lewis would headline InfieldFest. Kristen and the Noise, who will kick-off the Jagermeister Stage, are scheduled to play Claddagh Pub's Meet in the Street in Canton on Saturday.

Each week, The Baltimore Sun publishes a Q&A with an area college lacrosse player to help you become more acquainted with the player and his/her team. Today's guest is UMBC midfielder Shannon Harkey, the youngest of four lacrosse-playing siblings from Purcellville, Va. A junior, Harkey ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 12 goals and three assists as the Retrievers are off to a 4-2 start heading into Friday night's home game against Mount St. Mary's. She began her college career at Florida but transferred before last season to UMBC; her father, Jay Harkey, played on the Retrievers' 1980 Division II national championship team before transferring and competing at Maryland.

Amid the wreckage of the Mitt Romney presidential debacle and the Republican scramble to find a new savior, now comes ... yet another Bush! The ruminations of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, son of one former president and younger brother of another, on maybe seeking the presidency in 2016 raises among other possibilities another campaign clash of the Bush and Clinton dynasties. The talk of Jeb, now touring the talk-show circuit peddling his new book, "Immigration Wars," conjures up a matchmaker's dream of one political heir against another, former first lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
