A Memorial Service to celebrate Nita's life will be held on Friday, August 19 at 3 P.M., at Salem Lutheran Church, 905 Frederick Rd, Catonsville MD 21228.

Alan Goldstein, a sports reporter at The Sun since 1959, has been named winner of the 1997 Nat Fleischer Memorial Award for "excellence in boxing journalism" presented by the Boxing Writers Association of America.Goldstein will receive the award tonight in New York. It is named for Fleischer, the founder and editor of Ring Magazine, and former winners include Jim Murray, Dave Anderson, Bert Sugar, Ron Borges and Wallace Matthews.Goldstein, 64, has covered virtually every sport for The Sun as a columnist or reporter.

Daniele J. Fleischer, owner of a Harford County interior design firm, died Monday of a stroke at her Bel Air home. She was 66. Daniele Jeanne Lemarie was born in St. Maur, France, and raised in Paris. She studied art and design in France. In 1958, she married Pete Thrasher. The marriage ended in divorce. She came to Baltimore in 1963, returned to France for several years, then returned to the city in 1966. She was a designer for Shaivitz Furniture from 1975 to 1985 and then was design director for DGI, a design firm, for a year.

Millard B. Fleischer, a retired business executive and World War II veteran, died of leukemia Monday at his home in Chevy Chase. He was 86. Born in Baltimore, he graduated from City College and attended the Johns Hopkins University, where he played lacrosse. He enlisted in the Army Air Forces at the outset of the war and served in the Pacific. An aerial gunner, he also chronicled the war as a combat correspondent for Yank magazine. After the war, he joined the Jos. M. Zamoiski Co., an appliance distributor in the Baltimore-Washington area.

Robert D. Fleischer, a retired television news photographer and former owner of an aerial photography business, died of lung cancer Friday at Kent General Memorial Hospital in Dover, Del. The former Perry Hall resident was 68. Mr. Fleischer was born and raised in Baltimore and graduated from Polytechnic Institute in 1956. He attended the University of Miami in Florida and served in the Navy as a reconnaissance photographer aboard the carrier USS Independence from 1962 to 1965. Mr. Fleischer was a teenager when he began working with his father, an East Coast racetrack photographer.

IT WAS VALENTINE'S DAY, AND SARAH FLEISCHER WAS LISTENING to the morning show. The subject was listeners' favorite people, and this guy called up and said Sarah Fleischer had always been his favorite 98 Rock DJ, but she was getting older so he was shifting his allegiance to someone else.Well! WIYY-FM's midday disc jockey, one of the pioneers of rock radio in this area, wasn't going to take that kind of insult lying down, especially since she is the most-listened-to DJ in her time slot among area young people.

WASHINGTON -- Ari Fleischer, the former White House press secretary, recounted to a jury yesterday his experience at an unusual lunch on July 7, 2003, during which he said that I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby Jr. passed on detailed information about the identity of a Central Intelligence Agency operative. The lunch in the White House mess hall for senior staff took place three days before the date that Libby had sworn he first learned about the CIA officer, Valerie Wilson, from reporters. Fleischer was the fifth prosecution witness to provide damaging testimony in the form of an account that conflicted with the version that Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Cheney, told a grand jury and investigators.

Sarah Fleischer, the mid-day on-air personality on Baltimore's classic rock radio station, 98 Rock, for 28 years, is a classic herself. Fleischer, the widowed mother of two daughters -- Katelyn, 20, and Meredith, 17 -- still retains her rocker chick chic status. We spoke with her at the Hon Bar in Hampden. How do you stay such a hot mama? I take care of myself. I work out five days a week. Women these days are aging gracefully. I think the job keeps me young. It's the nature of the business.
