Oxford Nautical Festival and Flea Market What: Enjoy a day of visiting the scenic and historic town of Oxford, founded in 1683, in Talbot County on the Eastern Shore. The town's first Nautical Festival and Flea Market offers vendors selling nautically themed items, including arts and crafts, boats, fishing gear, dock accessories, clothing, and marine services. The festival also features book signings, music and a lecture from the curator of the Oxford Museum. In the evening, head to the Masthead at Pier Street Marina for a crab feast at Causeway Park, featuring a performance by Three Penny Opera for the benefit of the Maryland Watermen's Association.

Auditions Columbia Pro Cantare is holding auditions for all parts for its 35th anniversary season. Regular rehearsals begin Sept. 6 and are held from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesdays at Hammond High School in Columbia. To schedule an audition, call 410-730-8549 or go to procantare.org. Baseball Tryouts will be held for the Elkridge Hurricanes' 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U, 15U and 16U travel baseball teams on Sunday, Aug. 21, Saturday, Aug. 27 and Sunday, Aug. 28 at Rockburn Branch Park, Howard High School and Long Reach High School.

Berry good news: Saturday, June 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Arbutus United Methodist Church's annual Strawberry Festival takes place outdoors, 1201 Maple Ave. An array of berry desserts, plus burgers, fries and franks will satiate appetites. At the same site, the church's ladies will supervise a giant flea mart, overflowing with huge bargains. Southwest Emergency Services will sell items donated for the April flea market that was rained out. Indoors, select purchases from vendors such as Mia Bella Candles, Stampin Up, Tastefully Simple, Pampered Chef, Thirty-One Gifts, Silpada Jewelry, Scentsy Wickless Candles and more.
