Eugene Dale Jr., already serving life plus 20 years for raping a 13-year-old girl, was convicted yesterday in Baltimore Circuit Court of the October 1988 rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl but will not face the death penalty for that crime.State prosecutors wanted to seek a death sentence against Dale for the murder of Andrea Perry, but cannot because he was not convicted of first-degree rape.The jury, which deliberated for 10 hours over two days, convicted Dale of first-degree murder, second-degree rape and a handgun charge.

A 19-year-old woman from Joppatowne has been charged with murder in connection with the death last week of her 9-month-old daughter, who police say was repeatedly injected with insulin. Quecelia Yvette Baldeo, 19, aka Qucelia Baldeo, of the 900 block of Scannell Court, is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree child abuse resulting in death and first-degree assault in the death of Selena Olivia Weber, according to Maryland electronic court records. According to the Harford County Sheriff's Office, Baldeo was served with an arrest warrant upon her release from Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air late Friday afternoon.

Lawyers for a Harford County teenager charged with killing his father last year say they have evidence that two other juveniles were involved in the man's death. At a hearing in Bel Air on Friday, lawyers for Robert C. Richardson III told Harford County Circuit Judge Stephen Waldron that they are seeking information on the two juveniles, including their criminal histories and school records. The 17-year-old Richardson, who lived in Bel Air, is charged as an adult in the death of his father, Robert C. Richardson Jr., in January 2012.

The 21-year-old Glen Burnie man who shot and killed a Frostburg State University basketball player and wounded another was hoping that a jury would agree with his assertion that he acted in self-defense. But hours after the jury in Allegany County Circuit Court got the case, those hopes faded. The panel told the judge they were unable to reach a unanimous verdict in the first-degree murder trial of Tyrone Hall, and it became clear that he would not be acquitted. Shortly after 2 p.m. Friday, the former Mount St. Joseph soccer standout agreed to plead guilty to charges of voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of Brandon Carroll of Waldorf and to second-degree assault in the wounding of Ellis Hartridge Jr. of Washington.

An Essex woman was sentenced to life imprisonment Monday for supplying the handgun that was used to kill her brother-in-law, a Towson gas station owner, according to the state's attorney's office. Baltimore County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Bollinger sentenced Susan M. Datta, 53, for her role in the murder of William "Ray" Porter, who was shot to death at the Hess Gas Station on Joppa Road in Towson on March 1, 2010. Prosecutors say that Porter's wife, Karla Porter, had paid Walter Bishop to kill her husband.

A 22-year-old Baltimore woman who called 911 and said she found her boyfriend fatally shot in an alley this summer has been charged in his murder, according to court records. Asia La'trice Cutler was charged on Dec. 14 with first-degree murder and related charges in the Aug. 30 killing of boyfriend Donte Harris, 21. Police have also charged 21-year-old Shanda Cure and 24-year-old Willie Brockington with accessory after the fact, records show. Charging documents contain few details about the case.

SALISBURY — A third suspect has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 63-year-old woman during a home invasion in Salisbury. State police say 29-year-old Deangelo Savage was charged with offenses including conspiracy to commit first degree murder and was taken into custody Thursday. Already charged in the case are Shawn Franklin and Demarics Banks, both 21. Police say they broke into the home of Barbara Greene on Dec. 17 and one of them shot her. Both are charged with first-degree murder.

The Baltimore County Police Department announced Friday several previously undisclosed arrests in county homicide cases. Asked to explain the delays in releasing information about the arrests, the department's chief spokesman, Lt. Robert McCullough, said Friday evening that the homicide unit had "ongoing investigations and only recently provided us with [information] and permission to release it. " A 42-year-old New York man, Quincy Jackson, was charged last month with first-degree murder in the death Jan. 8 of Nathan Bowles in Essex.

After fighting with the father of her child, an Essex woman contacted her boyfriend and his brother, who shot and killed him, and injured two others at a Middle River bus stop last month, Baltimore County police said. Michael Desmon Martin, 22, Mikal A. Martin, 20, both from Prince George's County, and Laquesha Maria Lewis, 24, are charged with first degree murder after plotting to kill the father of her child near a bus stop on Eastern Boulevard near Kingston Road just before 11:50 p.m. on Feb. 18, police said.

The man charged in connection with last month's fatal shooting of a 19-year-old woman in Better Waverly is in jail and being held without bail in connection with a January armed robbery, according to court records. James Cureton, 21, of the 5200 block of Anthony Lane, now faces first-degree murder and other charges in the death of Tanise Ervin. Authorities had described her as an innocent bystander who had just graduated from high school and was planning to attend college to study nursing.
