Two Carroll County men were killed when their pickup trucks collided on Braddock Road about one mile east of Route 27 at 8:40 p.m. Monday.State police said Michael Lee Fincham, 21, of the 4700 block of Arthur Shipley Road in Sykesville was driving his 1995 Ford F-250 pickup west on Braddock Road when he crossed the double center line to pass another vehicle on a slight curve. The vehicle ran off the left shoulder of the road, came back onto it and was struck broadside by a 1985 Ford Ranger, which was going east.

BOSTON -- Duke forward Monique Currie passed up a chance to be a certain top-five pick in the WNBA last year just to play for a national championship. And with 10 seconds left in regulation last night, it appeared that her gamble would pay off. Instead, Currie, who redshirted in 2002-03 because of a tear in her anterior cruciate ligament, came up short in her final try at a championship, as Maryland beat the Blue Devils, 78-75, in overtime. Currie had 22 points, six rebounds and four assists, but she was in foul trouble most of the second half, when Duke squandered a 13-point lead.

State Police today were continuing their investigation of the three-vehicle accident on the Severn River Bridge that took the lives of two Crownsville residents and injured two people.Max Briceno, 25, and Cheryl E. Fincham, 23, both of Crownsville, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident yesterday.Everett Payton Jr., 27, of Oxon Hill, was taken to the Shock-Trauma Unit in Baltimore, where he was listed today in serious but stable condition.Priscilla Lyons, 64, of White Stone, Va., was treated for minor injuries at Anne Arundel General Hospital and Medical Center and released.
