Ruck, Inc., Funeral Home, 5305 Harford Road (at Echodale), on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., where funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. Interment is private.

College football Ex-Navy coach Hardin selected for HOF Former Navy football coach Wayne Hardin will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, the National Football Foundation announced Tuesday. Hardin is the 24th person affiliated with the Naval Academy to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame and the third head coach, joining Gil Dobie (17-3 at Navy from 1917 to 1919) and George Welsh (55-46-1 at Navy from 1973 to 1981). Hardin will be officially inducted at the National Football Foundation's awards dinner Dec.10 at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York and will be enshrined in the summer of 2014 at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.

On Monday, April 23rd, 2007, Mrs. Susan Gladys Fick (nee Rock), loving mother of Charles Fick and his wife Anne; adored sister of Walter Rock; adored grandmother and great-grandmother of Kimberly Mowrer, Kenneth Fick, Ryan Mowrer and Alex Sledge; cherished aunt of Sherry Breaux and Anthony Rock, passed away. At the request of Mrs. Fick, a Memorial Service to Celebrate her life will be held at a later date. Cremation.

Edmund John Fick, a retired banking and steel executive who advised local schools and hospitals on financial matters, died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's disease, July 11 at his Carney home. He was 79. Born in Baltimore and raised on Dudley Avenue, he was the son of George Robert Fick, who founded a roofing company. He attended Shrine of the Little Flower School and was a 1950 graduate of Loyola High School. He worked at Doc's Delicatessen to pay his tuition at Loyola College, where he earned an accounting degree.

In his dreams, it's always summertime. He stands by a lake. A family reunion. His cousins splash in the water while the adults talk. No one pays him any attention. They can't hear him; they don't see him. He looks down. He's wearing desert camouflage. A rifle is slung across his chest. His clothes are covered in blood. The dream came a dozen times in Nathaniel Fick's first few months home after returning from Iraq in June 2003. A Baltimore native, he had been a lieutenant in the Marine Corps, and during two combat tours had distinguished himself with bravery and compassion.
