Food just sounds better in French. Here's a slice of Tersiguel's menu: Choucroute Garnie a L'Ascacienne, Cassoulet Carcassonne, Coquilles St. Jacques and Boeuf a la Bourguignonne. Even huitres sound more appetizing than oysters. At Tersiguel's, you'll be feeling wonderful before you even see the menu. There aren't many restaurants around as deeply and sincerely pretty as Odette and Fernand Tersiguel's bastion of fine dining, which since 1990 has occupied the whole of a 19th-century townhouse on Ellicott City's Main Street.

The Ravens will hit the road again this weekend and travel outside the Eastern time zone for the first time this season. Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City is considered by players and coaches to be one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL, though the Chiefs are 0-2 at home this year. There have been as many questions about the venue as there have been about the opponents out at the Under Armour Performance Center this week. Anyway, that got me thinking about how the Ravens have fared outside this time zone under John Harbaugh.

In Week 5 high school football action, all seven undefeated teams stayed that way. No. 1 Gilman made a statement in its MIAA A Conference opener, and Hereford scored the biggest upset of the week after No. 9 Catonsville lost running back DeAndre' Lane to a hamstring injury in the second quarter. Here's a look at how all of the Top 15 teams fared as we reach the midpoint of the regular season. Look for the new rankings in Tuesday's paper. Ranking/Team/Record/Latest result/Next opponent 1. Gilman/3-2/Def.

Kooper's North, the new pub in Mays Chapel, has been open only since the end of August. But judging by the crowds, it has already developed quite a reputation. At this point, that reputation is mostly deserved. Like its sister restaurants in Fells Point — Kooper's Tavern, Slainte Irish Pub, and Woody's Rum Bar — Kooper's offers a clever gourmet spin on pub-friendly burgers and sandwiches. However, service at the Mays Chapel outpost hasn't achieved the high standards set by the city locations.

To everything there is a season, or so it is said. And that includes grilling. Not that you won't venture out on a cooler evening to barbecue some chicken, but autumn is here – almost – and the desire to dine al fresco is waning along with the summer weather. What to do? Well, host a dinner designed to highlight the transition from outdoors to in, the transition of our gardens from green to gold and orange. Our menu du jour — for eight of our nearest and dearest — has quasi-Southwestern undertones.
