Yes, Milton Berle died March 27. But yesterday marked the passing of the real Mr. Television, Robert Urich, at age 55, after a years-long battle with synovial cell sarcoma, a rare cancer that attacks the body's joints. He was not around at the dawn of the medium, or even during a golden age. But Urich starred in the most television series of any actor, from Soap to Love Boat: The Next Wave. If every movie star has a television counterpart, then Urich was the Gene Hackman of the small screen.

A memorial service for former Baltimore Sun columnist Gregory Kane, who died Feb. 18 at age 62, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the March Life Center, 5616 Old Court Road. A family hour precedes the service and begins at 2 p.m. Mr. Kane, who became a Sun reporter in 1993 and began writing his local column in 1995, was recalled for his provocative style and traditional tone. He often mentioned his family in his columns and wrote about politics, his favorite movies and wrestling.

Philip Franchina has been watched more than 11 million times on YouTube, but even he was surprised when someone recognized him and offered him a free Frappuccino the other day. "It's really awkward," said the 21-year-old online comedian who goes by the online "stage name" Philip DeFranco or sXePhil. "I'm a ridiculously shy person. It's really been a transformation, Now when I think about a minimum of 30,000 people judging you ... it's kind of messed up." A year ago, he was a college biology student in North Carolina who decided to respond to a video someone had posted on YouTube about their family.
