City Police today were seeking the 300-pound boyfriend of a 43-year-old woman who was scalped as she slept last night in the bedroom of a house in the 1100 block of N. Carrollton Ave. in West Baltimore.The woman's scalp was cut off from her forehead to the back of her neck, police said."Never in my 18 years of police work -- and I've seen some pretty bizarre things -- have I seen anything quite like this," said Homicide Detective David Brown. "We don't know the exact motive. They were boyfriend, girlfriend.

Neighbors often saw Ruby Pulley walking in her East Baltimore neighborhood, even lingering to eat berries from a mulberry tree. And it was there that she was mauled by two pit bulls Monday, according to witnesses who spoke with The Sun yesterday. Pulley was bitten over 90 percent of her body. Her ear was nearly torn off and she was "covered from her feet to her head in gashes and blood," a relative said. "They were attacking her like she was a piece of steak," said Lakisha Barnes, 30, a cousin of Pulley's whose backyard faces the yard where the dogs were kept.

A District Court judge ordered two teen-agers charged with shooting a Loyola College student during a bar fight held without bail yesterday after hearing details about their troubled home life and criminal history. Judge Charles A. Chiapparelli listened to brief arguments before issuing his orders, sending the 16-year-olds back to cells in Baltimore's Detention Center to wait for their next scheduled court appearance March 12. John William Fishback of the 3400 block of Hickory Ave. in Hampden and Jason Edward Hunt of the 2000 block of Druid Park Drive in Woodberry have been charged as adults with attempted first-degree murder and handgun violations.

Ten-year-old Tevin Montrel Davis had just finished riding bikes with his friends Monday night when he joined his father on the front steps of their West Baltimore rowhouse shortly after 9. Moments later, a group of men began arguing on the street corner in a familiar scene of drug trafficking - one that neighbors say they see all too often. Then came the shots. As gunfire rang out and four men ran toward a Jeep Cherokee parked close to where the children had been playing, Tevin was shot in the neck.

Two days after the Anne Arundel County Council proposed legislation to control "dangerous animals," a Brooklyn Heights toddler was severely injured by her family's pit bull dog, the latest in a series of dog attacks in the county. Jasmine Nikole Powell, 2, was mauled shortly after midnight yesterday in her home in the 5200 block of Kramme Ave., when the dog vaulted a 3-foot gate in the kitchen, ran into her bedroom and grabbed her by the throat, her father told police. The girl suffered life-threatening neck injuries, said Division Chief John M. Scholz, a county fire department spokesman.

A Washington woman and a Silver Spring man were killed in separate Montgomery County traffic accidents yesterday, one an hour after midnight and the other an hour before dawn, police reported.Investigators said the first accident occurred about 1 a.m. in the 13000 block of River Road in Potomac when a man from Hollywood, Cal., crossed the center line in his 1985 Buick Century and hit a Honda CRX head-on.The driver of the Honda, identified by police as Isabel M. Duarte, 21, of the 2300 block of Tracy Place in Northwest Washington, died from head injuries, investigators said.

Havre de Grace police were investigating yesterday a Tuesday night shooting that left a man in fair condition early today. Tony Lonnel Bishop, 36, of the 600 block of Reckord Road was shot several times in the 100 block of Vancherie Court, police said. Bishop was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment. Police said they have no suspects in the shooting.

An Ellicott City man was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore Monday after his car collided with a tractor trailer in Elkridge, Howard County Fire and Rescue says.Xavier Gooden, 37, was listed in fair condition yesterday.The accident occurred about 10:30 p.m. in the 6700 block of Dorsey Road near the Best Western Hotel, said Sgt. Robert Wiseman, a fire and rescue spokesman.
