RET. COL. EMORY OLIVER HASENEI, SR., 85 of Sykesville, died Wednesday. September 7, 2005 at Glade Valley Nursing Center, Walkersville. Born September 7, 1920 in Maryland, he was the son of the late James, Sr. and Minnie Marie Schimp Hasenei. He was the husband of Doris Margaret Hasenei of Sykesville. He was a retired Colonel with the U.S. Army and had worked as a lithographic printer after his retirement. Surviving are grandchildren Timothy Hasenei of Mt. Airy, Karen Hasenei of Frederick and Pamela Hasenei of Woodsboro, daughter-in-law Joan Hasenei-Rapier of Woodsboro and siblings Duane, Alfred and Virginia.

Harold Emory Carl Jr., a retired civil engineer and curio collector, died of cancer Saturday at Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium. The Ruxton resident was 72. Mr. Carl was born in Baltimore and raised in Towson and Loch Raven. He was a 1949 graduate of Polytechnic Institute and attended the Johns Hopkins University, where he studied engineering. Mr. Carl went to work for the highway department of the Baltimore County Department of Public Works in 1950. He retired in 1993. He was a member of the Paint and Powder Club for 20 years and Maryland Artist Equity.
