Emil A. "Buzzy" Budnitz Jr., a three-time All-American Blue Jays attackman during the early 1950s who was known as the "Buzz Bomb of Hopkins lacrosse," died Tuesday of bone cancer at his home in the Lake Falls Village neighborhood of Baltimore County. He was 79. "Buzzy was the best player at City, the best player at Hopkins, and the best player at Mount Washington, when it was the best team in the country," said former Hopkins teammate Bill Tanton, who later was the longtime sports editor of The Evening Sun. "Everyone experienced his greatness.

EMIL C. "NICK" BRETTSCHNEIDER, age 86, of Park Springs in Stone Mountain, GA. , died on August 29, 2007. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Betty V. Brettschneider. Originally from the Baltimore, Maryland area, he is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Bill Ozaki of Flowery Branch, GA., Diane and David Moses of Lawrenceville, GA., sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Pat Brettschneider of Curtis Bay, MD., Richard and Marcia Brettschneider of Lilburn, GA. Brother William Brettschneider of Ellicott City, MD., brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Hilda Brettschneider of Dover, PA, Herb and Lois Brettschneider of Piney Orchard, MD., sister Julia Pramschufer of Severna Park, MD., eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and cherished friends.

Emil B. Pielke, a former state legislator who was to serve as a delegate at this year's Republican National Convention, died of pancreatic cancer Friday at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. He was 66. Mr. Pielke had lived in Towson for two decades and had been active in the Maryland Republican Party since the 1970 legislative session. He took over the seat of Del. James M. Kelly when Mr. Kelly left for a job in the Bush administration in August 2001. Mr. Pielke was appointed to the position in January 2002.

On February 1, 2004, COLONEL EMIL M.ULANOWICZ, U.S. Army (RET), died from complications associated with Parkinson's Disease. He was 86. Devoted husband of 57 years to his recently deceased wife Edith. He is survived by his son Eric, Daughter Kim Walnes, and Brother Edward. Born in Baltimore MD. Emil was a highly decorated WWII Veteran and corregidor POW. Emil was greatly respected as an Army Officer and leader of men, earning the trust, admiration , and friendship of everyone who knew him. He was an accomplished wood carver, and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and reading.

Outside of Baltimore, let alone America, the boxing Baku brothers, Emil and Rufat, don't feel respected.Last night, as part of a seven-bout card at the Cancun Cantina near Glen Burnie, one sibling pugilist, Emil, 23, continued his knockout success in a ring nestled on a sand-covered surface and flanked on three sides by palm trees. The other, Rufat, 19, broke even.
