Eldersburg man injured when car strikes treeA 37-year-old Eldersburg man was injured when the car he was driving ran off Marriottsville Road No. 2 and struck a tree Saturday.Steven Eugene Schulhoff, of the 6500 block of Sunset Drive, was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was treated for his injuries and released Sunday.State police said Mr. Schulhoff was driving a 1982 Toyota eastbound on Marriottsville Road No. 2 on a curve when the car left the roadway and struck the tree at 6:55 p.m.FIRE LOG* Sykesville: Sykesville firefighters went to the assistance of Howard County to investigate a chemical odor in a building on Rover Mill Road at 9:05 p.m. Sunday.

A man robbed a fast-food restaurant in Eldersburg late Tuesday. The man ordered the manager to open the business' safe, forced him into a walk-in freezer and then fled with an undisclosed amount of money, authorities said. State troopers from the Westminster barracks said the man, who was described as in his 20s, had a dark-colored pistol when he accosted the manager of Roy Rogers outside the business in the 1400 block of Liberty Road about 10:45 p.m. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call state police at 410-386-3000.

ELDERSBURG - A 21-year-old Westminster man was arrested on Jan. 4 after the county Sheriff's Office said he was driving a vehicle that struck at least five parked vehicles, three mailboxes and a stop sign in the Harvest Farms and Carroll Highlands communities of Eldersburg. Early Wednesday morning, a resident reported a white truck that struck a mailbox. The vehicle description was broadcast and a State Trooper patrolling the area located and stopped the truck traveling a short distance from the scene.
