In the margins where Eddie and Maureen exist, no one's surprised when bad things occur. Maureen is raped, and Eddie is clubbed on the head, and both of them barely register that anything has happened to them. Their eyes are glazed as if their thoughts are focused elsewhere. That they are. On each other. Fixedly. Unswervingly. Passionately. They are fully alive only with each other. Everything else is extraneous and disposable. Everything. Money, home, children. All that matters is being in the spotlight of the other's gaze.

It's the finale already! That seems quick, doesn't it? I guess that means this season has been better than most, because I haven't been praying for it to end already. I might feel differently about that if Phillip had stuck around longer. Speaking of who stuck around, can you believe that Eddie is still around? He, as Jeff points out in the recap at the beginning of the show, has been at the bottom since the very beginning. If Eddie makes it to the end, I will laugh and laugh at Cochran and Dawn.

Eddie from South Baltimore, the semiwell-known bookmaker, parked his ancient Cadillac that seems constantly on the brink of cardiac arrest, stepped onto the parking lot outside Lexington Market and inhaled the most fragrant smell in the world, which is that of brand new money. It was 11 o'clock Tuesday morning, and already this was the closest parking space he could find, legal or otherwise, to Oriole Park at Camden Yards, where Baltimore was meeting Cleveland in the baseball playoffs a full two hours away.

Waco, Texas -- THERE are three spots every wanderer ought to visit when passing through this central Texas town: the Dr. Pepper Museum, the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and the little room at the back of Eddie Fadal's house. We couldn't stay long enough to see the first two, but we made sure we had time to drop in on Eddie."I'll never forget for as long as I live," he said, standing in the middle of his special room on Green Oak Drive and holding his right hand in the air with fingers spread wide.

Banksy's Cafe has closed in Lake Falls Village. Owners Robb Banks and Will Brown will be focusing on their catering operations, which they had been running out of the same location. The cafe, which opened in 2009, served made-to-order sandwiches and salads, roasted coffee from Baltimore Coffee & Tea, and local sweets like Naron chocolates and Mouth Party caramels. The cafe also had a presence at the Baltimore Farmers' Market and Bazaar, where it would sell prepared soups and macaroni and cheese.
