Albert Eccleston Thompson Jr., former president of tire manufacturing and electrical supply businesses, died of a heart attack Saturday at his Lutherville home. He was 82. Born in Baltimore and raised in Homeland, he was a 1942 graduate of Loyola High School. He joined the Coast Guard and accompanied convoys across the Atlantic during World War II. Mr. Thompson worked at a family business, Baltimore Paint Removing, and joined the board of directors of Schenuit Industries Inc. in 1948.

0 Goals the River Hill and Glenelg field hockey teams combined to score on Friday - after two overtime periods. 9 Rushing touchdowns scored by Mount Hebron senior running back Chris Eccleston in the Vikings' 2-0 start. After running in four scores and catching a touchdown pass in a season-opening win over Dulaney, Eccleston rushed for five more touchdowns in Friday's win over Centennial. He has 280 yards rushing on the season. 10 Goals the Long Reach and Centennial field hockey teams combined to score on Friday, with the Lightning coming out on top, 6-4.

BOYS Chris Eccleston, Mount Hebron SPORT FOOTBALL STATS -- The senior running back closed out a stellar three-year career Friday, leaving the Vikings with a number of offensive records. Eccleston, a two-time first-team All-County performer, is the program's career leader in total yards, total touchdowns, rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. This year, he finished with a season-record 1,195 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns. SIDELINES -- Eccleston, who maintains a 3.62 grade point average, is considering mechanical engineering or visual design as potential majors in college.

BOYS Chris Eccleston Mount Hebron, football The 6-foot-1, 190-pound running back and defensive back performed well on both sides of the ball in a 40-14 victory over Dulaney. Eccleston rushed for 155 yards and four touchdowns and had an interception. The senior also caught a 24-yard scoring pass and returned a punt 42 yards to set up one of his rushing touchdowns. Eccleston is coming off a year in which he intercepted three passes and scored 15 touchdowns on 821 rushing yards and 452 receiving yards.
