On May 16, 2005, ARNITA ELIZABETH SHORTER, loving mother of Jacob M. Farrakhan and Shirley M. Jones. A passenger was killed, and the driver and a second passenger were seriously injured early yesterday when a car ran off the Inner Loop of the Baltimore Beltway and crashed, state police said. The Chevrolet Cavalier was eastbound on the Beltway near Providence Road at 2:17 a.m. when the driver lost control. It traveled down an embankment off the right shoulder and struck a boulder before going airborne backwards and crashing into a light pole and a guardrail, said Tfc. David Johnson of the Golden Ring Barracks.

On January 4, 2005, IDA R. OPHER, age 97, of Baltimore, MD, formerly of Cambridge, MD. Beloved mother of the late Joseph M. Opher; mother-in-law of Mae O. Opher; grandmother of Keith and Dr. Valerie Opher; great-grandmother of Cie and Stringfellow Opher; sisters, Virgie L. Opher and the late Helen Opher Seymour; one brother, the late Benjamin Opher. Also survived by one nephew, William Seymour and one niece, Betty Kellogg; a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Opher was a member of the Steward Board of Ebenezer AME Church.

On November 20, 2004, HILDA L. (nee Pielert); beloved wife of the late William Paul Bayer; devoted mother of Patricia Bayer Pinning and her son-in-law, the late Earl Pinning Jr.; loving sister of the late Henrietta Davies, Sarah Bayer, Eleanor Spath, Harry, John and Louis Pielert. John Blades of the North East barracks. Police found open containers of alcohol in the truck, Blades said.

On September 3, 2004, ANNA KING BURKINDINE; beloved wife of the late James H. Burkindine; devoted mother of Margaret E. Kafka, Arthur L. Burkindine and the late James H. Burkindine, Jr.; loving sister of Lillian Casson. Also survived by eleven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. A private cremation was held.
