The 18th Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Breakfast will be held Jan. 4 at Martin's West, 6817 Dogwood Road in Woodlawn. The speaker will be Harry E. Johnson Sr., general president of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., the country's oldest African-American fraternity. The Morgan State University choir and jazz ensemble will perform. The event, from 9 a.m. to noon, is sponsored by the Howard L. Cornish Metropolitan Baltimore Chapter of the Morgan State Alumni Association. Tickets are $40, and proceeds will benefit the chapter's scholarship fund.

Esther Mae Williams Davis, December 9, 1941 to October 10, 2008, age 66, went to be with the Lord on Friday morning, October 10, 2008 after a long illness. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing of the remains. The grave-side memorial service will be held at King Memorial Park, 8710 Dogwood Road, Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday October 18th from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M.
