INDIANAPOLIS -- The signs of satisfaction were everywhere. There was a permanence to the good vibes, something that would survive the taunts, the threes, the general chaos that made this series as hard it was.Kevin Gamble, who made the basket to save his team from imminent implosion, recorded the feeling at the end with an authoritative spike. The Boston Celtics had won another one they easily could have lost and the Indiana Pacers had quickly gone from main concern to afterthought."It feels good.

For the Indiana Pacers' Reggie Miller, there was a reason to brood nearly two months ago when the All-Star rosters were being named. As one of the top shooting guards in the Eastern Conference, Miller was looking forward to making the second All-Star appearance of his seven-year career.Instead, Indiana's leading scorer was snubbed. With the Pacers looking to make their fifth straight playoff appearance, Miller had to cast his hard feelings aside. But last week the 6-foot-7, 185-pound veteran couldn't hold back his happiness after being named a member of Dream Team II, which will play in the world championship in August in Toronto.

SAN ANTONIO -- The NBA yesterday fined Patrick Ewing $6,000 for igniting a fight with Indiana Pacers forward Detlef Schrempf on Wednesday night, and Spurs center David Robinson issued a mild warning to the New York Knicks center to keep his hands to himself.Robinson, who will go chest-to-chest with his future Olympic teammate tonight at the HemisFair Arena, said Ewing likes to throw his arms around in a crowd, something he won't stand for."I know he always likes to come out and stick those elbows in people's throats and stuff," Robinson said.
