So, tonight we find out who's making it into next week's finale! (It's also the 300th episode of "Dancing with the Stars. ") And this is the next to last results show I'll ever recap, given the announcement that in the fall, there will no longer be a separate results show . I'm not feeling good about that, but we'll see. The show starts with five pro couples in a routine and then they're joined by five more couples. In case you had any doubt who the stars of this show really are, Derek Hough and Mark Ballas are choreographed at the front of the dancers during an extended section of the number.

First off, congratulations to Derek Hough for his Emmy win Sunday night in the choreography category.  The show opens with a routine from the pros, and there's Derek front and center. I guess unlike football players he doesn't get the night off. They appear to have done away with the grand staircase entrance for each couple, introducing them in groups of three as they stand on the dance floor. There's a quick shot of the leaderboard with last week's scores and we're told it's all-Latin tonight and they immediately go to the first couple.

Hello, darlings. We're back in the ballroom, this time with a bunch of new dancers. That All-Star season had its moments, but was kind of a dud overall. Lordie. Someone's given Barbara Barrie's hair to Kellie Pickler. (Relevant fact about Barrie: She's 81-years-old.) I get that Kellie shaved her head in solidarity with a friend being treated for cancer. But that doesn't answer why the hairstylist tonight hates her. This new Lindsay pro (who I have a vague recollection of from "So You Think You Can Dance")

Tonight's Halloween show was hard to take seriously, what with all the special effects, overblown makeup and costumes, and ridiculous props. Fun, nonetheless. Cheesiest props: J.R. Martinez and partner Karina Smirnoff for use of caskets, fake lightning and even a proton gun in a tango set to music from "Ghostbusters. " And then there was Karina's costume -- an inexplicable mix of feathery white fringe from head to heels covering her backside, but just bits of flesh-toned leotard up front.

Tonight's special entertainment on DWTS was geared toward the tween crowd. Justin Bieber. Live. Ouch. As Randy Jackson would say, it was a bit pitchy. And he topped off the whole mess by wearing a shiny, bedazzled purple jacket. He fared better during his second song -- a Christmas song (wait, wasn't yesterday Halloween?) -- but that could have been because he partnered with Boyz II Men. There's not much more to share about Bieber. But here are a few other things we learned tonight: * Judge Bruno Tonioli gave Rob Kardashian pointers on how to tuck his toosh in while dancing.

Nancy Grace's wardrobe malfunction will be the most infamous moment of this episode of DWTS. To cover a few seconds of time while host Tom Bergeron tipped Nancy off to adjust her cleavage ("On the European version, that would be perfectly fine," he assures her.), the cameras panned to a backup shot of a bored-looking audience. But enough about the nip-slip already. On to the dancing... Fast-paced dances often befuddle novice dancers. And that was true for a few of the contestants who took on the jive and quickstep on tonight's show.

Tonight, the three remaining stars battled it out on the dance floor for the coveted "Dancing with the Stars" mirrorball trophy. Ricki Lake, Rob Kardashian and J.R. Martinez each performed two dances: a style they had yet to encounter in the competition and a no-holds-barred freestyle dance. Ricki danced a cha-cha that was well-executed, although I wouldn't call it a show-stopper. I tend to cringe when newbie dancers are faced with the cha-cha -- simply because it requires a ton of attitude and confidence and hips-hips-hips.

The finale of "Dancing with the Stars" summed up season 13 in an over-dramatized recap of Ricki Lake conquering her personal demons, J.R. Martinez exposing his vulnerability and Rob Kardashian blossoming from a boy into a man. Yup, that about sums it up, in a very melodramatic way. Each of the finalists got to resurrect a favorite performance of the season. For Ricki and partner Derek Hough, that was the "Psycho" tango they performed during Hollywood week. A strong choice and certainly one of their more memorable dances with the shadow play, intense music and mood.
